In May I took delivery of MY first motorcycle, a Sunfire Yellow XB9S, and proceded to put over 1500 miles on it during the first 3 weeks. I absolutley love this bike, I probably treat it better than my girlfriend. Two days after I had the 1000 mile check-up done, (which took a week due to the ordering of the wrong filter, damn dealer!) my girlfriend and I were out enjoying a nice ride. Well, nice for me, she hates the seat. Anyway, we stopped at a local pizza joint for some lunch. I had to park on the side of the street, about 4-5 feet behind a Jeep Grand whatever. Just before we got our food a young woman came in asking who owned the yellow bike because she just knocked it over. Why she needed to back up 5 feet to get out of a parking spot is beyond me but she did and managed to hit it pretty hard. Most of the damage was easy stuff (bars, mirrors, lights, pegs, etc.) but the frame had a bunch of really deep scratches and a good size dent of the left, right where those nifty new Buell sliders would have been if they were out yet. The "mishap" was on June 17 and I just got my baby back YESTERDAY. Shop work sucks, time wise, around here (RI) but they did a fantastic job. I got cut off by some kind of behemoth on the way home as well, and I had BOTH lights on. Sorry, just needed to rant a little. Hopefully I will be able to ride for the rest of the season, maybe only a week or so, and enjoy my awesome new bike. |

I'm glad it's fixed... Watch out for them cages. Pretend like you are invisible and that EVERYONE is LITERALLY out to KILL YOU. Assume they are going to TRY to hit you and watch ALL of them. Be a fighter pilot with multiple bogeys. |

That happened to a Honda I owned back in high school. The driver (who I knew and who took care of the $$) just didn't see my motorcycle. Nowadays the preponderance of SUV's with high windows make the problem potentially worse. |

I also own a jeep cherokee. I always park my bike next to my vehicle since I assume that's one less direction someone can hit it from. I am a little embarrassed to admit, but I have almost hit my own damned bike while backing the jeep out of my usual parking spots. Now I know, if I can't even see my own bike, how will anyone else? I suggest everyone park their bike behind their cage sometime, then go in the cage and look in the rearview, see what it looks like to everyone else. |

My friend Joe had a ZX9RR once, someone backed into it on the starboard side AND KEPT GOING until they had pushed it over. That's not too easy to do with the kickstand down. They HAD to know they hit it but did they stop? Nah. $2500 in damage. Poor Joe was gutted to say the least. Stupid people shouldn't be allowed to drive. Bob |

this is not moto related but funny (to me anyways) I had just got my hotrodded (LOUD) engine running on my 57 Chevy. I pull into a gas station with my windows up and a SUV (windows up) in front of my car STARTS BACKING UP! A Jeep Cherokee no less! My horn wasn't installed in the Chevy yet so I proceed to yell "HEEYYY!!! HEEYYY!!! HEEYYY!!!" The guy suddenly stopped. Everyone in the gas station could hear me including the guy in Jeep. |
