New owner here. I'm looking for a race PCM and some info about ecmspy in case that is a route I have to go. Thanks for any help.

thanks. i'm a bit confused about all of this. i know the race ecu is good but i haven't read up much on ecuspy yet but it sounds like i can reprogram the stock ecu? if so i think i'd like to go that way depending on the cost.

as of right now the bike has a k&n filter and the previous owner opened up the stock muffler and gutted it i guess. i am getting some dead spots on accel and massive popping on decel. i put the stock air filter in it just now but i won't ride it again until tomorrow.

i guess if i could get info of what it takes to get ecuspy up and running and what it costs and what a tps reset usually costs at the dealer for the new race ecu that will make up my mind about what to do.

here's a video that kinda shows what was done to the exhaust if it matters much. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WQUcyZJJ9lk

If you plan on doing a lot of engine changes, then ECM Spy might make sense, if you're just making a few "normal" changes you can buy a race ECM from Erik Buell Racing which will meet 90% of your needs and you won't have to spend time datalogging. IF you're working cams, valves, compression, new fuels - then it makes LOTS of sense to use ECMSpy.

Learning the data logging system is going to be important if you don't have ready access to a dyno.

IF you are just using one of a few "known" exhausts and intakes, then you can buy a EBR module and presto - all done.

Thanks. I bought ecu spy for now so I can at least reset the tps. For now I put the stock air filter back in and its already running much better. I'm sire in the end I'll end up with a ebr ecu and the k&n back in.
