I'm in the process of converting my wife's 2003 XBS to R and have a few things to sort out. (She's gone for the next couple of days and I'm hoping to have it done and surprise her.) I bought all the parts from someone locally today who had the dealership convert their R to and S sometime back. I have the R switch assy, but no key for it. Does anyone know if it possible to swap the internals or just the tumblers, so I can keep using the same key that the S came with? Or do I need to order a new ignition switch assy with the VIN from the S, so that it comes keyed correctly? Assuming that's a possibility.. Another issue I'm dealing with is figuring out how to (cleanly) mate the S headlight harness to the R headlight assembly. They appear to have the opposite plugs on each respective end, so that they don't mate when swapping, if that makes sense. (Male / Female reversed on harnesses) It seems that I got pretty much everything in the parts box with the exception of a few misc screws / bolts and the R front brake line. I'll need to swap the S front brake line to the R, due to excessive length. It came with the R clutch and throttle cables as well, but I'm hoping to not have to replace those... I'm looking to keep this as clean as possible and for it to look and work like it would've from the factory. Any input and advice from those who know or have done this already would be greatly appreciated. (I've searched the board the best I can to find the answers and didn't see what I was looking for...) Thanks all! |

What are you gonna do with the s headlights, bracket, brake line. I am doing the r to s conversion and need all the front end parts. |

Conversion went well. Not sure if we'll keep the parts for future use, or put them up for sale. If we decide to sell them, then I'll let you know. |
