I'm looking into buying a sunburst orange 2006 xb12s. It's got 18000 miles on it. Haven't seen it in person yet. Found it on craigslist. Not sure what I should look for or be worried about. Its a big upgrade for me. I'm moving up from a Blast, and was really looking for a 500-900cc bike, but then this came along. Any advice would be great. Thanks |

It should be close to stock. Too may modifications can be problematic. Look for crash damage, of course. Look for service records. Oil and filter changes specifically. |

I just bought a 2006 XB12ss myself. Look it over very closely for crash damage, and make sure it has been maintained. Also look for any frayed wires anywhere on the bike. Look for oil stains on the cylinders as well. |

Yep, crash damage under pucks, a wet fan, or wet forks are all bargaining points. Maybe take a voltmeter to check charging? It's not an 1125, but.... They are pretty bulletproof though. |

Also, while the bike is idling (and even off, key on, power on), turn the bars full lock left and right and see if any odd stuff happens. Watch the gauges and signals. If you do buy it, remove the damn wire bundle guide behind the headlights and on the steering stem IMMEDIATELY. Wires WILL break at some point. I'm dealing with it now on my 06 and it's a HUGE pain. |
