Has any of you any experiences swapping fork bottoms or fork lowers from another bike with xb fork?

Basically, i am contemplating to swap out the fork lowers or fork bottoms on a buell xb 43mm fork with the ones from a 43mm zx10r fork (radial mounts). They are both Showa brand and both 43mm. In theory it should work. But in real life i don't know. Can anyone help shed some light on this topic?

I have seen a question like yours here before with no answer!
it was about swapping xb lower forklegs with those from a upsd tuber.

I think that you have to pull both forklegs apart and compare them with each other

(Some ducati bikes have also showa forkslegs)

I agree. Please do take them apart and let us know!
Perhaps an exploded view part diagram would help before you did? Like from Bike Bandit...

Assuming you are going to swap the front wheel as well for a traditional dual disc setup?

to simply swap the bottoms, all that would matter would be the thread pitch and length of threading as well as the size and depth of the bolt hole fastening the fork together...

if you are swapping the wheel and brakes, you need to account for width-spacing difference between the fork tubes, and how that will work out with whatever discs and rim you choose...those so-called "radial" bottoms are not side-to-side adjustable, so any spacing difference will be need to be made up on the interface at the hub and rotor, by either playing around with different offset rotors or using rotor spacers.

you could also look at swapping entire front ends, either making a custom stem or whole triples, but you would need to account for differences in fork offset.

hope all this helps!

Do you figure somehow that the brakes aren't good enough?

From my limited experience when trying to fit Yamaha R1 forks to an XB I can tell you that theJap forks are nearly always wider to accomodate the twin discs.
I had to get some new triple trees made to accomodate the R1 forks and front wheel/brakes to my XB.

Having said that, the result was astoundingly good and well worth the effort (and that was with the old 'Non radial' R1 blue spot brakes fitted!) : )
