I'm taking a long trip this summer and want to raise my seat without spending too much $. Has anyone tried the XB-S Subframe Spacers from Diesel Moto? They advertise that seat height is raised 2.75", but that looks like it's at the back of the seat, not at the rider position. I need leg room bad for this trip and am looking for a cost effective solution. | ||

We sell similar subframe risers http://www.trojan-horse.co.uk/prods/243.html They only really rise the back of the bike 'german Streetfighter style) and don't raise the riding position much at all. If anything for a long trip it may make it less comfortable as it pushes your weight forward more. If you want a cost effective temporary solution fit somehting like an Airhwk seat pad http://www.airhawk.net/ This will raise the riding position slightly and also give more comfort for longer trips. Yo can take it off when you don't need it  | ||

You could gain an inch of leg room by going to the pegs from the XB12Ss or Uly. I think they use a different part number for the shift linkage to get the shift peg where you need it, so you may need that too. | ||

I have the Diesel Moto spacers and they are a very nice product. I would, however, not recommend them to improve rider comfort on a long trip. The steeper angle of the tail section puts more of your weight into the airbox cover and takes a good bit of getting used to. I have had them installed for several years and am completely comfortable with my Select seat on 2+ hour rides but don't think it would be a good modification right before a long trip. | ||

Having used one, the AirHawk seat pad is 'a nice bit of kit', as the Grumpster would say. Works as advertised. Haven't tried the lower pegs. Otherwise, hydration, stretching, Advil ..... | ||

No he can't. All XB Lightning models have the same footpegs, and the Uly pegs are the same drop but have a different size mounting point meaning they are not plug and play. | ||

All: That is great information and helps very much. Thanks! I'm riding from Denver to Indy for the GP and may make the bulk of it in one session. I know from the past that my 45 year old knees will be hurting so I need to get my butt higher up. I'm really getting sick of my 9, riding at high altitude and having very little power. I'm looking forward to getting to low elevation so the engine will have some grunt again. To wheelie n the mountains here I need to bounce the RPMs on the rev limiter in 1st and just let go of the clutch. At lower elevation I'll be able to just bounce it. Looking forward to that. | ||

No he can't. All XB Lightning models have the same footpegs, and the Uly pegs are the same drop but have a different size mounting point meaning they are not plug and play. So he can still use pegs from the XB12Ss then (Lightning Long). They do have a 1 inch drop. | ||

All the XB?R pegs have more or less no drop. The XB?S and XB?X pegs have a 1 inch drop. So if he has an R bike, he can get an extra inch by going with S or X pegs. But if he has an S or X bike, it is what it is unless he goes to after market 2" drop pegs like the Knight designs. (at least I am pretty sure that is all the case). Oh, and the original XB9SX seat (I think it was called the Highline seat) was an inch taller. Had that on my 05 XB9SX. Loved that bike and that seat, still miss it, even if I did look like a monkey on a football. | ||

He could, but being that he has a Lightning already, he already has those pegs. The Knight Design 2" drop pegs are nice and will give him more leg room. | ||

Reep: Thanks for the offer for if I get in trouble down there! I just ordered a really thick seat cushion with gel and mammary foam. Hopefully that will get me enough room. I can ride forever if my legs don't ache and lock up. Maybe I'm old and need a Harley now....or maybe not. | ||

Is there silicone in the mammary foam? I would think it would be little bumpy. It might be more comfortable if the headlights aren't turned on.  | ||

Might be uneven without the dual headlight conversion. |
