My engine is all the way down. If I want to spend no more than grand. What do I do to get the most bang for the buck. I've done the pipe, hi-flow, and race ecm. |

If you want to be cheap, the most bang for the buck would be to put it back together yourself. Seriously, why is it apart anyway? I can only dream as all my money is getting eaten up by my kids and my house. Wished I owned a condo right now. |

His technical explanation:
quote:The tranny seems to be fizzucked.
What were they thinking to cause you to have to split the cases for a transmission repair? ??? |

What were they thinking to cause you to have to split the cases for a transmission repair? No Trap door on the XB to pull the tranny you have to split the cases |

Well, Thanks everyone! I hope I didn't cause too much of an upset with my outlandish slang and tight-wad quandary. And thanks Turdagain for making that my "Technical Explanation". And Mrs. Auto, did I offend? I can be addressed... even with constructive criticism. You can see in this photo where the bearing on the tranny fork has been getting hung up between 2nd and 3rd when sliding around the drum. It finally stayed hung up and splitting the cases is what it takes to get in there now that there is no tranny access door. |

Thanks Stealth. The comment was not addressed so, I took it. I spoke with Nallin this morning and Jim Winters @ Hal's. I have a call in to Trip Nobles @ Tilley's. I may just take Leeaw's advice and put it back together as it was. |

For almost $1.3k I can get 43cc. I don't see that as enough bang for the buck. For more money I could go bigger... but,I am not a racer with a bunch of money... jus' a po slang slingin' slacker smartarss. |

I would think heads. I cant decide for myself on the 1050 or the 1200.. 1050 would be alot easier but doesn't seem like it would give much bang for buck. plus would the 12 last as long going to 7.4k? seems the 1050 might get more miles out of it. I dont know. I heard the techlusions were supposed to be out soon for it. |

>> No Trap door on the XB to pull the tranny you have to split the cases which was my point. Planned or an oversight? These things are bullet proof, yes?
& Torqster, I hope that was a type-o. suggestion: black cases w/ polished covers, though I'm sure there's no time for it. |

Well thank you Glitch. 99buellx1: You are right! If I could ride this thing to it's potential then I should consider HP upgrades... But, when she's all the way down, it is hard to resist the temptation. |

You are right! If I could ride this thing to it's potential then I should consider HP upgrades... I know I'm not even to 50% of it, hell maybe 30%, but I do know that I needed some more ponies on the straights, got passed there by EVERYTHING. you got it apart you gotta do something to it.... |

Kawasaki had my 2000 ZRX1100 down for a complete transmission rebuild on warranty. Seems some parts were not put in right at the factory. While they were at it, and since much of the labor was paid for by Kawasaki, I had a few more horsepower installed. Um, about 40 more. ZX11 pistons and cams, and head work. Then I put on an Akrapovic full pipe, K&N filter, opened the airbox and jetted to suit. It went from 100.0 hp to 139.5 at the rear wheel. It was fun, but I twisted the loud handle too much and decided to sell a year or so later. It is tempting!!!!!!! Never Give Up! |

Torqster, I hope that was a type-o. Hmmm I considered that kit first. But, 43cc? I don't know. Maybe head work... but the guys at Hal's said they can be ported but they flow good as they are. |

There was a VERY interesting article in the recent AIM magazine about HD's planned obsolescence and Quality control... I believe the trapdoor was spoken about as well... |
