OK, does anyone have the process for resetting the TPS on an 03 XB9S?? I have ECM Spy and see where the RESET is but dont know what the state of the bike needs to be or if I need to do anything other than link up and hit reset. The ECM had a TPS reset by HD when I got it to fix the current leak on the original but it ran like CRAP between 2k and 3k RPM. I stuck the ECM back in the bike and nothing has changed. I got this ECM off ebay and it worked fine until I took it to the HD dealer and they did the reset. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!! |

Back the adjustment screw out past closed, lightly close the throttle and reset, adjust back up to approximately 4 to 5 percent. Make sure it still hits 100% when you open it all the way and that it doesn't hit 100% way to early. It is best to remove the aircleaner so you can look at the valve to make sure it is working correctly. It is also possible that you have a bad sensor in the throttle range of 2K to 3K rpm, data logging may show the TPS value jumping around during periods where you know you had a fairly steady throttle. it's also worth checking to make sure you have the correct programming in the correct ECM, the 03 was a slightly different device from the later years. Flashing the wrong firmware is possible but it may or may not run correctly. (Message edited by Greg_E on January 01, 2013) |
