Hi everybody, after several months working hard on the project, finally we can show the final pictures.

You all ready know that the idea came from the enthusiasm about flattrack bikes and the aim of having a FT style bike for street use. The objective was a fun, light and powerful bike. Here we have 100hp and 160 kg.

All the engineering was done by David from Bootpower, including parts design and production. We used a Torque Hammer which is smaller, lighter and improves the engine performance a little bit. Both the chassis and the subframe have been clear coated in such a way that you can see the welding cordons. Besides the silencer, the front fork and 8 pistons brake caliper are from a Buell 1125. Front master cylinder and clutch lever are from ISR (including the push buttons). The bike has a Motogadget display, and an Easton handlebar. Rear shock is an Öhlins from the Buell 1125 race kit. It has several special designed carbon parts. Finally our friends from Solobuell and Kiddomotors helped us with some parts. I hope you enjoy it!

Here you can also follow the process and get more information:

Glitch, Tony, I'm glad you like it!

Firemanjin, we are using the same XB injection, we just rotated the throttlebody and did some parts to make it work that way.

Ramon.

That's as close to Timbo's sporty as anything I've seen in the last 5 years.

Beautiful work.

374 POUNDS!
And man does that thing look tiny.
Can you post a picture with someone on it so we can get a good sense of the size.
Man alive I could tear up some twisties on that!

That looks amazing. Post up when the kits become available. I will find a wrecked XB to transform.

RE: size -

Buell forks, wheels, engine & swing arm = similar wheelbase? [or at least, add-it-up simplicity]

also EZ to visually compare crankshaft centerlines to axle lines for engine heights & front-to-back positioning

axle lines also assist in estimating any seat height difference

hey Murderface,

I fell asleep last night dreaming of this kit - built to the max

so your post sparked me to post a possible spec - the basic idea is to take BOTTpower at their word about their own parts list & 'improve' it:

1190RS race mag wheels & brakes
1190RS Big Piston forks & shok
XB9 mill with 1250 kit
American Sport Bike comparison-best XB exhaust system

finally, my preference is to maintain belt drive if possible [a salute to air-cooleds' lo-maintenance aspect]

all the little details remain that, for now....

Curt,

You do have some nice improvements there. I am undecided about keeping the buell brakes though and would like to swap in dual brembo front brakes. The backbone frame bottpower makes looks simple enough that if i bought new dies for my tube bender i could possibly make it, eventually... i like the ability to keep the belt drive for the K.I.S.S. principal.

Hi again!

On the 31 of January we tested the XR1 for the very first time. For this test we chose a karting track in Albaida (a small town in the East of Spain), because unlike most karting track, this one is not very slow and it has some fast sections. Several world championship riders come here to practice supermoto.
We were very lucky with the weather; we had a sunny day, without any wind and with a spring-like temperature. I rode the bike together with Alex Martinez, a rider with a lot of experience both in Motocross and road racing. Alex raced World Superstock in 2005 and 2006 (this year he was Kawasaki Italy official rider). Two years ago he also was the first one to test Bottpower moto2 bike. We had more people in Albaida. The guys from “Agarra Aire” came to film a short video. Also photographer Kristina Fender came to shoot for Sideburn magazine, which are preparing an article about the XR1.
I was the first to ride the bike, 2 laps slowly, just to check that everything was ok. After it, I went back to the track and after 2 laps more the knee sliders were touching the asphalt. Good signal!. I didn’t stop lapping, increasing his pace lap by lap. David, had to stop me for lunch. While riding the bike, you easily notice the helpful riding position. The bike geometries, the rake and weight, let you forget about the engine 1.200cc size. You place it wherever you wish, in a quite easy way. The XR-1 is extremely compact, the frame structure and rigidity favor an instinctive turn in. You can face the apex aggressively, but knowing that you can go even further. The engine seems to be built for this bike. You constantly feel its torque, however easily guided by your right hand. This also shows the great job done on the electronics. This test has exceeded my expectations and the objectives pursued.
After me, Alex rode the bike. He did it in a fast and aggressive way from the very beginning. The tires were screaming in every turn, and in some of them he was going into the corner quite sideways, in a supermoto style. At the chicane exit his front wheel was always on the air. It was a funny show!
We are very satisfied about how this first test came out. We checked that the bike performs really well on this kind of track. We were lapping the whole day and we didn’t have any kind of problem. We did the next test in Cheste (MotoGP track in Valencia, Spain), to check how the XR1 performs on really fast corners. David is already preparing a post with pictures and information. Coming soon!

I do not mean to bore you with more pictures. Here we have some new pics from the second XR1 test in Valencia Circuit Cheste, with the australian Moto GP / Moto2 rider Anthony West. Just after the official World Championchip training a couple of weeks ago. Thanks to David and Jose, who are also engineers from WC teams and would organize the event with Dorna, Irta, West... I leave a copy&paste from his post:

"Last 14th of February we took profit that all the World Championship Moto2 and Moto3 teams were testing in Valencia (they spent 3 days training there) to organize a small test with Anthony West riding the BOTT XR1 in Cheste circuit. We arranged the test at 5 in the afternoon, once the official IRTA tests were finished. We rented the track for half hour, it wasn’t possible to rent it for more time because there was not enough sunlight. Of course with such a short test the objective was not to break the lap record, or to push the XR1 to the limit. We just wanted Anthony to ride some laps and give us his opinion about the bike behavior. Anthony made two runs of 5 laps each one. The bike worked perfect again and we didn’t have any problem. Anthony’s comments about the bike were very good, so we went back home very happy one more time. We want to thank Anthony West for testing the BOTT XR1 (he also tested our moto2 bike some time ago). Also to the QMMF (Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation) Team for allowing West to ride our bike. To the track for allowing us to lap once the IRTA tests were finished. To Jaime Olivares for taking these cool action photos. And to Ramon for allowing Anthony to ride his beloved bike (and also for all his help, ideas and for his collaboration in this project helping us to making the XR1 come true). In Cheste we had also the guys from Agarra Aire filming again, so in a few weeks we will have another video in which we will give more information about this test, and we will listen Anthony feelings just when he get off the bike."

In our first test in Albaida circuit, the people from the renown Sideburn magazine, came for a photoshoot done by Kristina Fender, a specialist photographer for stylish motorbikes. Sideburn is the 'bible' for custom flattracker builders, with unique articles.

I hope you recognize this bike
