http://homepage.mac.com/tom_pollack/outside/PhotoAlbum13.html This is my first Buell, and all you guys were right... it is an amazing bike, unlike anything I have ever ridden before and HUGE fun. Court, you were right, that Erik fella is a friggin' genius! And thanks, Erik, for building a 12 Low--- its a perfect fit--- it feels like you built it just for me. So how do you keep your sanity through those first 500 miles? 3000 rpm? My self-restraint is weakening... |

Break it in however you want, Tommy. Some people follow the procedure, some ride 'em like they stole 'em from day one - both sets of people still have functioning motorcycles. Welcome to the money pit! |

I bought my XB9S from the dealer with like 350 miles on it , with the race kit pre-installed. So I am sure it was flogged to death by the staff and demo rider's alike. I have over 13,000 on it and have had no engine problems or oil consumption. |

Tommy: Congratulations and welcome to the madness. As a VESPA owner you are uniquely qualified to understand the concept of "riding there" be it fast, slow, windy or straight. My advise to ALL new Buell owners is the old Court "Milk Crate" procedure. Get a milk crate, cup of your favorite beverage, your owners manual and just spend some time sitting, reading, getting to know and understand your Buell. There are few motorcycles that are smarter than people, the Buell is one of them. To maximize your enjoyment you and the Buell must BOND. You can teach it and it can teach you, you need to work together. Then take it out and learn to listen to it. It comes to you preprogrammed with lots you need to know. All of Erik's encrypted messages are hidden in the handling and response. LISTEN. Increase your understanding and knowledge with each ride...you'll love this bike. By the way...did I mention the people you'll meet? I've met neigh on 3,500 of them over the last 20 years and with darn few exceptions all are exceptional! Congrats! . . ride safe, lean much and smile more, Court |

Tommy....congrats on the new Buell. I will 2nd that notion of Court. Buellers are the coolest people. If ever in Georgia, look us up...3% Bragging Rights. Everytime a walk into my garage and see that piece of machine sitting there, I think to myself "Damn, that's mine!" |

Listen? Yes, Court, I AM listening. And this bike sure is a talker... in fact, I've never been near a bike that had so much to say. But it will take a while to gain understanding... some of the language is still unfamiliar to me. I still can't quite believe my good fortune, however. (grin) |
