I replaced my clutch plates many months/miles ago with some from American Sport Bike and since then have had a perfectly functioning bike even with many days of track abuse thrown in the mix.

My past track day was an average temperature day and the first 5 sessions were great. End of the 6th session I was noticing a lack of power in the top of the gearbox, while it still rev'd, a clear sign of a slipping clutch. I did a quick adjustment (seemed a bit tight) and it still remained an issue. Trackside I was not able to do the proper adjustment of resetting it, but instead just used the lock nut to give the cable a bit more slack.

Going to try fresh oil in the transmission and a full adjustment but if that doesn't do it, what else should I look into? Possible causes?

Pop off the clutch inspection cover (key hole shaped thing), look at the lip on the primary cover. If the cable was installed too tight it can break the lip giving lots of play and slippage. Some pics for you to use as a comparison:

I can fix it for you if it's the lip on the primary. My fix uses stock screws. Or, if you are capable,I have a drawing of the plate that fixes it, and can give you instructions too.

I'll take a look at that when I change my transmission oil today. Hoping a quick oil change and adjustment will correct the problem. Hoping it wasn't slightly tight and a hard day at the track burnt my clutch plates. although that repair is cheaper than a new cover.

If I don't see damage there, and do a proper oil change and clutch adjustment and still get some slipping, is replacing the plates the next logical move or are there other places to look?

My primary case already had some crash damage so if that is the problem then I'll likely suck it up and replace the thing.
