At age 12, I watched my dad, who usually had a belly full of Schaefer beer, ride my brother's BSA Lightning across our driveway diagonally and into a row of pine trees. Only time he ever "rode" a motorbike. I ended up the owner of that BSA. Funny. |

My father never rode but he and I made my first bike: a rupp-framed minibike with two horses of powah. His brother and even his half-brother had bikes all along but not my dad himself. My uncle had a 1978 CB750 supersport for much of my life but recently sold it because he was tired of fixing it. He bought something more practical: a Suzuki. A cherry red Suzuki hyabusa! He hasn't killed himself or lost his license yet! |

Johnnylunchbox - The forks look like those on a Guzzi Falcone. |

My Dad never rode...but he got me my first MC, a 1969 CB350. Green and white. The VW bug of motorcycles. He tried to set me up with my first serious project, too. He had an apartment tenant who owed him rent and had a 1939 HD 45" solo in boxes. I wanted that bike, too. But the guy had chopped the frame and I wanted it stock. That was the difference between a project and a disaster as far as I was concerned. |

My Dad rode an early 80s Suzuki gs1100. Raked out 3°, and a widened rear wheel. I wasn't allowed to ride passenger, as I would fall sound asleep on the back of it. C'mon; I was 8. I vaguely remember his Laverda SFC. |

Wow..my Dad's second bike after an early Whizzer. He had this '48 Chief in the mid fifties. then back on bikes' in the early seventies he got a '73 Commando he kept for 2 years when he wanted a more touring oriented BMW.My Sis and i pictured when he brought home the new Beemer.Unlucky for me he GAVE the Commando to my older brother. That BMW served him till he passed in '92.Too bad,he had posters of the EVO Harleys' and still wanted one.Time didn't allow. JLB,were those pics taken from Italy? (Message edited by ducxl on February 18, 2013) |
