Spent the day yesterday riding back from a friends new house outside of Chicago. 698 miles round trip and one serious 2 hour delay stuck in traffic. I pulled in for a fuel stop, had some lunch, and just let my arm relax from the hefty traffic jam that I got stuck in. Had a nice chat with the couple of Sturgis refugees trying to stumble home which made the jam more enjoyable. Anyways, I get back on the bike and head out. Shift onto the onramp and realise I am going to have to hit a pretty damn small hole to get back on since traffic is flying and heavy. No problem I think as I whack it WOT, float the front wheel as I shift to second, then third, but it was the shift to fourth that took me by suprise...I have floated the front on the fourth gear shift when I late shifted just before redline. But this time when I did so, my left hand cramped up hard and I ended up powershifting without the clutch...I was still watching to make sure I could hit the hole in catch up mode so when the back wheel stepped out, the revlimiter kicked in, then the bike jumped forward as the rear caught traction again...well lets just say I am glad I had hit the washroom before taking off, its the first time the XB has gotten squirelly like that ever. Straightened right up though and I still hit that hole in traffic spot on, but damn if its the first time I have spun the rear in fourth gear... btw...traffic was cruising at 90... |

And grandpa and grandma that you sqeezed into in front of are probably glad they also stopped at the last restroom.... "Harold, you'd better slow this thing down some, that young man on that motorcycle over there is looking like he has eyes for the gap in front of us." "Screw that Mabel, if he can ride like that he can hit the gap in front of us sideways and do just fine. Now pass me the bagel and enjoy the show 'cause I ain't slowing down one bit for some squirrely young whippersnapper." Glad you kept it somewhat under control and that you hit the gap in traffic. |

Ya i had a freind try a rolling burnout at 30mph. DIDNT work out well after he picked himself and his bike up off the ground he had a broken ankle and a BUNCH of NASTY scratches and a bent rear brake lever. Na i think ill keep mine stationary thanks. |

You balance like your going to do a stoppie, grab the clutch and roll open for the revs, not enough to pull a wheelie, then slip the clutch out as you squeeze the front brake. |

its the length of a dollar bill, or any bill for that matter. geez my above post could have been taken entirely wrong. i, in no, way meant to imply that Greg had LDS and thats why he spends so much time grinding or compensates with his R1. sorry for any confusion. Ken |
