I finally have to vent. Bought my XB12R at a local dealer and got a fair enough price. It all stopped there though. I have since bought K&N, oil filters, brake lever, foot pegs, service manual and all were from 20% to 90% over MSRP. And since they don't stock anything for Buells they charge $5 special handling fee on every order plus tax. I just thought this must be a Harley thing until my Harley buddy says that's not how he gets charged. My last trip in I asked how much to mount some new tires on my Buell I bought from them if I brought wheels in off the bike. While I was looking over the service reps shoulder at a posted price list saying $35/ea to mount tires he said he would do it for $100/pr. It's nice to be part of the family. I took my wheels to the local Honda shop and they mounted them for $25/ea. I'll also be buying my parts from Dave. BTW: Thanks Dave, the frame pucks are nice. Also, I replaced my stock tires (2000mi threads showing) with Pirelli Diablos and they make the bike turn in much better. They seem to have much more rubber and expect to get 4000mi out of them. |

Glad you like the pucks! We were in your neck of the woods last week. I wish we had those roads in WI! I wouldn't be able to keep Buells on the showroom floor! Dave |

Vaughn: If you don't care to post the name of the dealer here, could you e-mail it to me. I'd like to drop them a letter. Thanks, Court |

Dave, glad your trip was good and hope it didn't rain too much. Guess you went to Amanda's Fonda? As far as my dealer, or should I say the one I bought my bike from, Pikes Peak HD. |

Yes, we hit Amanda's on the way out and the way back to Iowa! Great food! It's a must stop if you are going thru that area of Colorado. Dave |

Don't bother Court. ALL OF THE COLORADO HD/BUELL DEALERS OPERATE THAT WAY! That is why I drove almost 800 miles round trip to pick up my Buell. |

ALL OF THE COLORADO HD/BUELL DEALERS OPERATE THAT WAY Rocky Mountain HD/Buell has been pretty good to me. I have special ordered Buell parts with no difficulty (and have some on order right now), and they give me a 10% discount for being a member of the BRAG club they sponsor. |

quote:"While I was looking over the service reps shoulder at a posted price list saying $35/ea to mount tires he said he would do it for $100/pr. " Did you point out the discrepency to the svc mgr And inquire why you were being charged a premium? Perhaps it is the Buell premium? You are doing the right thing. If they don't want your business, take it someplace else and tell everyone why. Good luck. What is up with these dealers anyway. I have never experienced the treatment from anyone else in any business like the treatment I received from my dealer (Bumpas HD/Buell of Memphis - who blow). If the guy did not want to mount your tires, why not just say so, rather than gouge you on the price. I just don't get it. If someone dosen't want my business all they have to do is say so and they will never see me again. |
