Hi I live in South Africa, Buell pro's are nowhere to be found in Pretoria! I own a 04 Buell xb9s. Recently I changed the battery and strange things started to happen. 1. The bike does'nt want to start when the stand is out. Even if you pull the clutch or in neutral? It has never done it before! 2. Same time my speedo does'nt want to give any reading on the road... km's, rev everything els works fine. It does however fill the clock when I switch it on. But that is that. 3. Not sure if it has always been like that, but when I turn on my 'brights' (lights) the other one goes dead? Where can I start to look? Thanks! |

The lights switching is normal. There's an easy way to rewire it to leave the low beam on all the time. The bike should definitely start on the stand! That's a weird one. |

2) vehicle speed sensor might be bad or a faulty connection. maybe clean it and try? I don't usually have much luck with cleaning sensors though. 3) one light is the low beam, the other light is the high beam. |

Sounds like a ground resistance problem. Follow the path of grounding from the battery cleaning and securing as you go. |

Thanks Guys! I'll check the out and report what I found. The grounding may have something to do with it. I had the back end resprayed, a while back. Maybe something wasn't tightened well. |

I had the same problem, it was the switch on the clutch lever. |

1-grounds/loose connections or something else. i hate electrical issues 2- speed sensor needs to be cleaned (it is a little magnet, and will stop working when it gets little metal shavings on it from normal engine wear) 3-you never noticed? you can swap wires or just put the hi-lo switch in the mid-position (i like to leave it as-is just so i can screw with people when they tell me that i have a head-light out) |
