Hey guys, Awsome forum you have here. I just found out about it through a friend whom also owns a buell. I have an issue. My buell was laid down.. From the owner who had it before me. The damage was significant. The front fairing needs to be replaced, it is being help together onto the frame of the bike with zip ties, along with the cluster, and the headlights, and the wind screen of course. I have some pics here for you to take a look at. I guess my real question is, what parts will I need to buy in order to replace the whole front section of the bike? If you undue the zippes, the whole thing just kinda falls apart.. Including the headlights, which will practically fall off the bike. check out the pics..

Here is a video of my bike, with the zipties on, and off.

Welcome to the addiction!

I would say ,cut the zip ties and disassemble it to see what is broken and what not!

Probably one or both side modules are broken and also a change that the backside of the cluster is to.

It is easy to replace those parts yourself ,only to find them is the hardest.

example for a module: http://www.buellsterparts.com/product.sc?productId =733&categoryId=6

One more question, Can't I just use a regular torx wrench to remove the ignition switch? I have a bunch and I think they may work? Please let me know. Would like to save the extra 15 bucks or so . thanks guys

Yes it is possible ,choices enough!
you can drill the little (anti theft)pin away with a small drill bit and use the normal torx ,or give the pin a tap with a hammer and metal chisel so it breaks away ,or with some vicegrips on the bolthead.

You can often get a set of "security" driver bits for a few dollars and these almost always have the Torx with the hole in the center for this pin. But as mentioned it isn't much of a deterrent since it is easy to break the pin out and use a regular torx. I normally wedge a small screwdriver in there and twist hard to snap it, sometimes when you push it sideways it just bends and makes any other attempts difficult.

If it is really stuck you could take the triple tree off and drill the screw heads off.

Thanks guys, I got the parts last night, and worked on her for about 2.5 hrs, and now she is good to go! I just need to get an oil change, change the handle bars out, put on new mirrors, and a new front tire and she will be just like new. Thanks guys for your help. It was much simpler than I thought it was going to be to replace that front end.
