It does feel good to bring one back from the dead! That bike was sitting for almost 2 years before I got it. When I first thought about buying it, I was considering doing a Buell based chopper. But I'm glad that the bike was repairable in its stock form. I still love choppers, but unless the frame is a total loss, I don't think I could just cut one up in good conscience.
I learned a lot about these in the process - to the point where I'm thinking about upgrading my wife's bike from a Virago 250 to a Lightning 9. It would be a much nicer bike to have as a "loaner" when friends come over and need a ride.
As for the Uly rebuild - well, we're also looking for a CR headlight assembly. Might end up doing something a little different with the front end on this one

One more quick question - does anyone have a good source for the hardware for these bikes, other than HD?
I'd like to keep a handfull of bolts and things in the garage and tool kit in case something loosens up and falls off. I've had a hard time finding things locally, and the T27 screws with the "shoulder" on them don't seem to be a common fastener.
If anyone has a source, it would be appreciated. |

I got some bolts at a local bike shop that also does custom builds and hd stuff.
I showed them the bolts i needed and they ordered them through motorcycle storehouse or some other distributor.
I ditched a lot of the black T27 torx bolts
and ordered some stainless socket button head bolts and allen head instead.

Got my rebuilt title!
Another trip to the DMV today - should be the last one. Should have a plate and registration in hand today, and it looks like nice weather this weekend to get it inspected and go for a few rides.
Dropping the muffler off to KD Fab next weekend, and placing an order to American Sport Bike for some of the planned upgrades.
