Fed could you post a pic of the set-up with the blanket on with out the filter over the stack. Or describe it? Looks awesome. Can't wait to hear how you like it. |

The more I look at that blanket the more I want one. Still would want a way through it for the IAT and breathers (your solution looks nice - where IS the IAT in that pic?), though, plus the thing's damned expensive! Looks great, though, Fed. Is the blanket itself as well-made as it appears? |

Slap a new City X cover over that bad boy and you'd have something to look at! |

I took a slightly different approach when I recently fitted my F.A.S.T kit. I made two small holes in the thermal matt and then fitted two small K&N oil breather filters, so when the airbox is off my 9s you actually see 3 filters, the large K&N for the velocity stack and the two small one's behind it. Just hope their is'nt a rush for the city-x plastics as I reckon the F.A.S.T system would kinda cool on show. |

glitch will get another pic tonight w/o the filter. I’m still waiting for k&n breathers. These are land rover filters I’m just using temporally to test. I’m waiting for a different mat also with 3 holes for the air sensor and breather lines. |

Fed ... 'waiting' for a different mat? Are you making one, or is Hillbilly? |

Made a similar set up myself, used a kevlar fireproof insulation material from an industrial supply co,will post pics tonight, works awesome,SOP dyno,(seat o pants),makes lots more midrange, feels real strong! |

I found some good heat insulation blanket material in JC Whitney that I'm going to order and make my own blanket too. I was thinking that you could actually leave the lower airbox on for sensor mounting purposes but still put the blanket underneath it and secure it to the same bolt holes and fix two problems with one deal. I have to look at it this weekend though. |

Odie, that's excactly what I did, works fantastic!,don't know how much the heat blanket thing helped, but it couldn't hurt I figured. |

Glitch &darth Here are the pics I’m not making it my supplier was going to try another "grommet to hold the sensor in place. I kept staring at these parts on the workbench and couldn't wait any longer. Went for a very short blast after the pics. Quicker throttle response way down low like when in city traffic. Like around 2,500 to 3,500. you know that really dead area. Also seems to me that it went to 6,000 a lot quicker, or easier I hope I explained it o.k. Way more noise, but that’s cool even for an old fart like me. This is one of those things that we have to play with to find the best location of the sensor but ….. I’m not sorry for the purchase. What ever it does or doesn’t do it’s worth my money.

Thanks Fed. For the pics and the review. I'm sold on the system and will get one ASAP. Hopefully before RotR |

I'm just wondering about the effectiveness of the insulation blanket. I would think that the air moves too fast past the airbox to transfer heat to the intake. Has anyone done a study on the temperature change - insulation blanket v. stock. |

Sorry to bust all your guys ideals here,$$$$ But until I see a dyno comparsion or the like I wd. not invest in all that gear.. With the mat installed out of a high heat material one can make , also not sure JUST how much heat that wd. lower anyways & with a Mod. air box drilled, sloted, etc. which I know lets ahold lot more AIR in Just how much difference then DO you think this FAST system makes if ANY??? as far as air temp. goes if ya want the coolest air then think about picking the air up from down below in front of the engine and exhaust , scoop it whatever from there VIA to the top tank cover ram effect,or to the stock air pickup now etc, air is the coolest closer to the ground ,for the two engine breather hoses they should be routed out of the area all together to a T-fitting and a catch can that one can drain (if Needed), IAT in a cool location where within the top cover., my 4 cents worth..surely can be approved on I`m sure .... |

Hogs, once you've invested in that much extra gear, at least on a 9, I think the gaines from the FAST system would be minimal and due entirely to the stack itself. A 12 box, drilled/cut to allow better flow should breath just as well as the FAST system, and the nipple is proven to add several HP and TQ across the board by itself. On the 12s...-=shrugs=- |

so people are drilling the 12 box on the 9's too? I couldn't feel a diff between the 12 bx and the drilled out 9. but if its only 1-2hp you probably wouldnt feel it. I didn't after I had it dyno tuned, picked up 2hp on the dyno but didn't really feel any diff. but hey, I want every little 1-2hp I can get. |

Darthane, thats my point not sure one wd. see any gains at all with that stack after all that...so why spend the $$$$$. How much is the stack anyways??/ |

$270 w/mat and even if numbers don't prove to be better it feels better and looks cool. and it's not all that much $$$ in this sport. |

I thought is was a ~6hp over stock 280 for 6 is cheap |

270.00 is alot to pay for a mat, if Drilling the 12 box etc. produces the same gains if any....Thats over 400. 00 dollars for us Canadains by the time we get it here...Drilled box looks cool and feels Better..:-)) |

I can`t really can``t see that stack in itself producing 6 hp....over the stock stack or any of them three stacks for that matter... |

The FAST System gave a 6.0 HP peek increase. This began as +3 HP at 3000 rpm to +6 HP at 7000 rpm. From 7000 to the rev limiter there is a discernable tail off in the power characteristic although the power is still rising, just not as quickly as before. The midrange hole is reduced considerably to a flat spot (Between 5500 to 6000 rpm) in the torque before the power kicks in from just under 6000 rpm. so maybe +3hp over the drilled 9, or 12 box read it here |

Nope can`t see it , maybe 1hp, who knows maybe 2 hp. who knows lets split the difference 1.5 for 400. 00 Now that Expensive in my book.. WoW do the math... Still Can`t see that stack doing that at all Sorry thats just me.. maybe ..just maybe if one was to run an OPEN stack no breather what so ever and in the right location.. one might have gains then I wd. think only if your going from a restrictive air flow area as well |

Wileyco exhaust muffler (Basically straight through), Stock Induction system, Buell Race ECM..... There is a significant increase in the induction noise at least in the riders ears. At idle and low rpm’s it sounds like….well just odd. At rpm’s above 6000 the motor sings as you can almost discern each breath of air that is being sucked in. Hmmm.. Sounds Like the Drilled air BOX ... each to their own... |

oh and, I can't hear anything over my pipes anyway so...AHAHAAA yeah 2-3hp for free or 5-6 for 280. do what ya got ta do. if I buy it, I have dyno charts before and I will definitely do some after's on the same dyno. |
