got to work this evening, had to move my bike about half way through the shift. turned the key on and everything came on. pump primed. hit the start button, loud click and everything went away. no lights on the dash, it's like the key was turned back off. i thought fuse but none where popped and it will come on with the key but when you press the starter it does the same thing. i haven't had this bike very long, and don't have a service manual to go to yet so i'm asking here. if you've run into this or know where i should be looking for a problem i would appreciate any help i get. thanks |

+1 Froggy. Sounds like a dead battery, or loose battery connection. |

Is it 12.9 after charging it up? Have you done any mods recently? Have you checked to see if the seat is seated properly and not crushing any wiring or pressing any components in such a way to cause grounding? The seat can also press/crush the ECM wiring and cause issues. Take a close look at your 30A fuse...mine has blown several times in almost exactly the same manner. Make sure they are all firmly seated as well as the relays. When you hear the loud click can you turn BOTH your ignition and kill switch to the OFF positions and then get power again (with gauge needle sweep) after turning them both on again? Have you checked everywhere under the seat for a potential bad ground (or some wiring that has rubbed bare). There are at least 2 ground points (one on either side). Have you checked the voltage regulator connection (71 connector) and other connections under the sprocket cover for evidence of a bad connection or arcing (may have misspelled that)? You can also unbolt the voltage regulator and inspect the back for bubbling or cracks before grabbing a multimeter and checking your charging system which has been in numerous posts on this site. Probably is something simple like the guys above stated but the above is a few more places to start looking for any problems... (Message edited by austinxb12s on July 25, 2012) |
