Using pieces of two stock XB12 headers and mandrel bends I purchased, I am fabricating a new, more efficient exhaust between the heads and turbo. It will incorporate individual EGT thermocouples to measure individual cylinder conditions. I will work on finishing up the plumbing over the weekend and have all of the finish welding done by a close friend of mine. I am using a Miller 185 MIG with 308 wire for the tacks. What do you guys think?

I think you should use a burns stainless collector. Also... You'll almost certainly need some heat shielding over the wiring that runs just inside of where the collector is at. (Message edited by M1Combat on July 12, 2012) |

Thanks you all! M1, there is plenty of space between the collector and the wiring and there will be a sprocket guard there that will also serve as a heat shield. |

Cant wait for the charge pipe setup pics. You need a clear airbox cover :-D |

Here are the latest teasers of the bike. I still have to finish up the exhaust (finish welds, wastegate leg, and supports), figure a few more little brackets and wrap up wiring.

That makes my ears hurt from here! I'm looking forward to seeing how the build goes! |

I really like the headlight/flyscreen replacement that you have on there. Where did you get it from and does it have headlights in it? Can it be used with the stock instrument panel? |

Thanks a lot, guys!!! The front fairing is from Showyomoto.com. They are a Canadian business and make some neat looking fiberglass headlight units. It comes with a headlight unit but I will be using a different lighting setup than what they supply. It would 'work' with the stock instruments but would probably not fit the best. |

Hey Ericz , I cant see the intake tube , is it installed in the pics ? Have you considered running a small inter cooler inline with the intake tube ? There was a old Turbo Co. (Areo-Charger I think) that made a kit for the first Tuber Buells , that had a small inter cooler . I have read they really help with HP and longevity of the motor . Your thoughts ? |

The intake plumbing is not installed in the pictures above. I have considered running a small intercooler using that space but it would be difficult to package the intercooler so that it flowed from bottom to top, maintained a low pressure drop across the rpm/airflow ranges, was aesthetically pleasing, and actually provided a measurable performance gain. Currently, the water injection is responsible for all of the intercooling and has proved to work well. It is usually considered to be much more efficient than an air to air intercooler, both in cooling ability and provides no restriction (pressure drop) in the intake path. An intercooler has fewer parts and is inherently less likely to malfunction. As long as I perform the necessary maintenance to the water injection (keep water tank full and verify proper water flow and switching) I have no worries about it. |

Sure did, Richard! On a Friday I gave Kim the measurements from my wheel hub and made a new sprocket that fit perfectly. It was in my hands on the following Wednesday. Great customer service and really nice sprocket design. Roger, I'm still working on all of this for my own bike. I am trying to publish info on my website, www.streetfighterperformance.com, to help out other diy folks. |

Btw, did you annodize your front sprocket nut? How'd you get it black? Mine is starting to rust. Looks like crap. I lost my rear master cylinder while riding and brake fluid went all over the place. I think that had something to do with it. |
