Long story short my brother red-lined my XB12S and spun a bearing. Where should I have the motor rebuilt? |

I'm in Northern Virginia. I'm not sure what bearing. It makes a lot of noise in the lower. I told a 40 year HD police mechanic what was going on and without looking at it he said he over revved it. He did the same thing to his 06 ULY 2yrs ago. He had a rocker box gasket leaking Instead of having someone rebuild the motor for him he sent the pistons and heads off to have them ported and polished and tried to rebuild it himself. When he put it back together he messed it up and blew the motor when he hit the rev-limiter. |

It's pretty hard to over-rev the XBs since their rev limiter is so effective. The 12 motors don't fail at the factory set 6800rpm limit unless something else is wrong. How many miles on the bike? Have you changed the engine oil and checked for metal flakes in the oil? It may look like silver glitter in the oil. |

I haven't changed the oil. The bike only has 8700 miles on it. My brother said he red lined it. |

He could not tell me what happened at the time. All he told me is when he hit the rev-limiter is when it snapped. I'm taking it to Skip's in Winchester this weekend. Skip's family owns Groves HD. Below is a link to is web site. http://www.skipscycles.com/ |
