What battery do you use in your XB? I have a 2004 XB12S and I need to replace the battery. When I purchased the Harley Battery it would last 3 years. The last battery I installed was a Interstate and it lasted 20 months. The Interstate was half the price of the Harley battery.

I've had good service from Yuasa batteries, over the years.

I use a motobatt battery for a week now in my xb
it has 200cca like the hd battery so let's hope!?
before that it had a hd battery that lasted 4 years ,a varta for 2 but changed that because it was turning to slow.
the last was a odyssey that did two and a half and left me on the side of the road

I ended up dropping $120 on a HD battery. I know I will get at least 3yrs out of it.

Install and religiously use a Battery Tender Plus and you'll be amazed how many years of service life you will get out of a battery.

I replaced the last (AGM) battery in my S2 after 8 years or so, and mainly because I was working on it and had it disconnected for a long period of time. Still have the original batteries in my '08 XB12XT and '09 1125CR, both connected to a Battery Tender Plus when they are at home 'resting'.

Just my 2 cents,

My brother took my XB12S out and hit the rev-limiter and blew it up. So much for the new battery.

Bummer about the engine failure. What let go?

1313 gives good advice. Use a Battery Tender regularly and you will see very long battery life.

I put a tender on my bikes any time they are in the garage. By maintaining a full charge I have had several OEM batteries last 6-8 years (and still going strong).

It sounds like the bearing went. It makes a lot of noise in the lower. I told a 40 year HD police mechanic what was going on and without looking at it he said he over revved it. He did the same thing to his 06 ULY 2yrs ago. He had a rocker box gasket leaking Instead of having someone rebuild the motor for him he sent the pistons and heads off to have them ported and polished and tried to rebuild it himself. When he put it back together he messed it up and blew the motor when he hit the rev-limiter.

I'm not sure what I'm going to replace it with.
