So I've googled around and looked in service manual but still unsure of the specifics... I have two PITA problems - when bike gets hot I can't or can only sometimes get it into neutral at stoplights. Huge hassle having to hold in the clutch for that long sometimes! And then sometimes in 1st gear it doesn't completley disengage. It's disengaging like 90%, but it will still roll a bit if I don't have the brakes on. Service manual and forum says to adjust the primary for the not-going-into-neutral problem, and to adjust the clutch cable at the lever for the not-completley-disnegaging problem. But trying to figure out...do I loosen the primary nut (counter clockwise?) or tighten it? Same for the clutch problem. |

For the primary adjustment screw: If you are screwing it into the primary case, the shoe is taking up slack in the primary chain. If you are looking from the top of the bike down, it's counterclockwise to tighten. The locknut will be clockwise to release the adjustment shoe (from the top of the bike down). As far as the clutch goes, it sounds to me that the ball ramp is still slightly loaded. I would open the omega cover and give 1/8 turn clockwise on the clutch adjustment screw (considering the primary is adjusted properly). Then take up slack in the cable with the handlebar adjuster. Remember, when you release the lever, the cable should have a small amount of play, or should be loose. The manual describes this as the 1/16-1/8" of play between the lever itself, and it's mounting perch where the cable passes through it. Hope this helps. |

same problem for me. Tryed to adjust free play at cable and on the clutch.Primary cover is ok, cable clutch is only 1 year old. Switched to over oils brands. Just changed one more time the oil to OEM Formula+. Will test it tomorrow. If not ok i will have to think about a clutch problem. I'm really bored with this.Gearboy seems a little harder to shift than other XBs but when really hot ( about 2 hours riding with hot weather temps ) shifting comes really hard and i have to try more than 10 times to find neutral. |

i'm also thinking about a wear on the shift drum. Anyone knows if this happens on XBs ? |

Thanks Gunut! Seems the clutch adjustment and change in tranny fluid worked. I have yet to test out the neutral problem since freak storm took out our power the whole weekend and was busy cleaning up and not riding. |

Still can't get it to shift gears at a stop when the bike is hot. And right side still burning the crap outta my leg. I have the small right side scoop on there, the bigger one looks like it would fit under the sharkskinz. Guess it's time to mess with the primary to fix this shifting problem. Oh and a new big oil leak, awesome. |

mine seems to be better since i switched to Formula+. Also check if both shift levers are right horizontal at neutral, mine was 1 tooth offset. B00stzx3 we have exactly the same problem. Don't look about the right airscoop, i have one ans cooling more the engine is not your solution |
