Has anyone else noticed the low fuel light coming on early. Bike is supposed to have a 3.7 gallon tank, right? My low fuel light comes on and i'm only putting in 2.5 gallons.

I think actual fuel capacity is 3.4 gallons. I have never been able to squeeze in 3.7.

Has anyone ran till completely empty then refilled the full 3.7?

Well, I ran it completely empty, poured in about a gallon, drove it to a gas station and filled it with about 2.8 gallons. I think the trip to the gas station was preceded by a trip home and then back into town (about three miles or so).

He he, hope that helps : ).

Well, I guess I'll just run it a while after the light comes on and see how far I can go. Manual says light is supposed to come on with .7gallons left, looks like it actually comes on with about 1.1 gallons left.

Oh, you wanted to know how far you can go? I got 30 miles of city driving... Generally first second, third gear. I would imagine that you could get about 40 on a highway, but don't quote me on that : ).

CC, yes, and got 3.65 gallons in, unfortunately I didn;t have my camera to snap the pic or I would have.

I had a discussion with an H-D anony who explained the way the sensor works. Its a heated wire that stays cool by the fuel surrounding it. On hot days the fuel stays a bit warmer then on cool days. So more fuel can cover the wire on a hot day and still have it trigger, then on a cold day. Why did I ask about this? I wasn't paying attention to my trip meter when the light came on. Just saw it switch over and new I had atleast 45 miles I could go (having taken it to 45 in a poor choice of roads) I didn't get that far, went 25 miles when she died. It was a cool 70F day when this happened so less fuel was needed to keep the wire in the tank cool. When I got the 45 miles on reserve, it was a nice cool 102-105F.

When I first got my bike, I ran out of gas and almost coasted into a gas station. I filled it completely with 3.4 gallons.
