It seems like my fuel pump is much louder than it used to be. Does a loud fuel pump mean it's about to meet it's imminent demise? |

I can't answer your question directly, but mine is a fair bit quieter now that I've rebuilt it than it was previously. Al sells the gaskets, seals and filters you need if you are going to do a rebuild yourself. I have no idea what a dealer charges but I knew I wasn't going to pay it. They might try to sell you a new pump whether you need it or not too. Can you do a pressure test? Suggest you pull the fuel line off at the throttle body and test there. Partially plugged filters will make the pump work harder (noise) and restricted flow could perhaps be cause for premature failure... |

My pump makes a terrible whine when first cranked and then sounds normal most of the time for the rest of a ride (after stopping and restarting). Not to totally jack the thread but does this mean the same thing? |

I know the pre-pump strainer is back in stock at American Sport Bike because my order shipped a couple days ago. There is another thread about fuel pumps you may want to read: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/327 77/684355.html?1340156441 |
