My clutch cable is leaking at the crimp by the primary cover. I could stand to have a little longe cable. I'm running CR bars so the cable is a tad tight, its not that bad but if I'm going to put on a new leak free cable may as add some slack.

So anybody know cable lengths between models?

OK, old 2006 Uly clutch cable is very close to 4' 5 3/4" from the shoulder the 'O' ring sits against at the primary end to the shoulder that sits against the clutch lever housing at the handlebar end.

Maybe a wee bit off topic, but I got a new clutch cable to replace mine after it started leaking at the primary cover a bit. It would actually leak fluid into the plastic casing around the cable and then leak out of a worn spot near where the cable made contact with my chin fairing. Not a huge amount was leaking, but I wanted to fix it when I got a chance.

Anyway, I set out for a ride, not having replaced it yet and as soon as I pulled our bikes out of the garage, snap, my old cable broke at the lever. I really got lucky. Glad I had a new one and gaskets and fluid etc.

So put the bike back in the garage and started working on it. I got it all fixed up and man, what a difference that nice new Teflon coated cable makes, all adjusted and working properly.

This is the first time I've done it and I'm glad to have it fixed. So I have a confession to make and a warning of sorts. Whatever you do for the love of God, don't do what I did and drop the little "clasp" that holds the cable on the clutch end into the primary. I tried fishing around with the old cable and magnets and ended up loosing the magnet too. Needless to say, I ended up taking the primary cover off too. A bit more work than I bargained for. Pretty stupid. I did take the opportunity
to check the chain tension and inspect the tensioner, which I hadn't done myself before. Now I need a drink.
