This summer I'm doing an overhaul of my XB12Ss mechanically and cosmetically, including fixing all of the crash damage from my track incident (low side) last year.

Fortunately for my butt (but not my wallet), the OEM seat got a bit of damage in the low side and will need replacing : ).

I have never liked the seat, especially for longer cruises where I am not riding aggressively and moving around a lot. It has a slightly forward tilt to it that gets uncomfortable rather quickly.

I know there is the Corbin Gunfighter, which looks like a nice option, but I also recall a less expensive and IMHO better looking option from another company but can't recall the name, or dig it up in google.

Anyways, I want a seat that will provide a more comfortable long distance platform than the OEM but without making it so much of a bucket that it doesn't work well for track style riding.

Thanks for the advice!

You might be thinking of Baldwin.

How does it compare to Corbin? Also may be a silly question, but is leather the way to go? Vinyl just sounds more durable but I guess for the money I might as well get a nice leather seat. Also if I go Baldwin I assume its worth the extra few bucks for the gel insert?

I'm not sure. To me it looks like the more like the street fighter seat I used to have an I loved it over the stock seat. I have a low model bike I really dislike the hard ass seat and you can't move around at all. I'm really liking the ostrich pattern. The carbon fiber look is what people would expect to see when they look at the bike so i want to thow a curve ball...haven't thought about a gel pad

I've got a few Ss seats I've been meaning to take pics of for comparison.

Never got into the Corbin. My past experiences have always found them too firm for my tastes.

YMMV,
