I am drilling out the top, front bolt that holds my headers on as it snapped. I have brand new ceramic headers to be installed and my mechanic is saying he has to drop qthe engine to drill out the front bolt and install the new header Is this right? |

Yes. It's not a full drop but it might as well be. Invest in an old fashioned hand impact tool for this job. Taking off these kinds of nuts/bolts is what that tool is made for. |

Rotating the engine on the XB is really not a hard job. A decent mechanic can have it down in about an hour. |

An hour,he is lollygagging! Done so many now I can do it in my sleep,----oh, and I am not happy with having done so many, but about 30 percent of the Buells that come in for a dyno have bad seals. |

I've done it a couple of times. Haven't got it down to an hour but I guess after a couple it's doable. Taking all the plastic off at once instead of stages saves time. The cooler sub-frame can be left dangling for header removal. Wonder what the book rate is on that job? |

i've swapped headers on a few XB's 12 and 9's/ the 9's are easier to do with out dropping the motor. BUT }it's more of a hassle than to eff with everything else and you will more than likely end up over-torquing your rear header studs. then, when they snap like mine did, you will have to buy a jim's tool and swing the motor down anyways. |

Its very easy to change your headers without doing an engine drop. Check out my video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WxozheEre64&feature =plcp There is more than one way to skin a cat. Which way you chose, that's up to you. |
