This is as much bullshit as you can get in a single thread.

Entertaining.

But, that's about all.

And your adding to it Court?

Froggy, I know what EBR does to the engines. And at the end of the day I am and always will be a huge fan/supporter of EBR and the work that they do over in East Troy. I just find it funny that you and others think just because you change some parts from an original design that all of a sudden it's a totally different thing.

Sorry but I can take my Ford 302 and change or modify EVERYTHING inside and out. Guess what I still end up with....... a Ford engine.

So do you think when/if EBR goes into full production mode that they will be doing what they do now with the engines? I don't.

They aren't changing some parts, they are changing lots of parts. Even little things like the clutch actuator, and the rotor cup for the stator are different. It is a new motor based off the 1125 motor, similar to how the XB motor is based off the Sportster motor, yet those motors share next to no components.

They probably won't be, it is too costly to handbuild and modify the motors. They will have to have motors they can uncrate and install.

EBR can change as much as they'd like.... it's still a Rotax engine. Or maybe it should be called....... a Rotax engine with EBR flare? Is that better?

Words...... they're funny.

This is funny. Is the "Boss 500" engine in John Force's funny car a Ford? Was the engine in my DRZ400 a Suzuki? or was it a Kawasaki? It was a Yoshimura engine licensed to them. This is endless. Yamaha motors in Fords. Toyota motors in GM's.

My favorite is the mighty 9.9 and 15HP Johnson/Evenrude loop motor designed by Carl Kiekhaefer of Mercury Marine fame.

Speaking of Mercury Marine, what is their connection to a certain Corvette motor?

I raced Kawasaki "KZ"'s That had aftermarket cases, transmissions, cylinders, pistons, crank shaft and rods, cams, clutch, cylinder head, valves and related parts. Was it still a Kawasaki? The parts were stamped "Made in the USA" (mostly). By sanctioning rules it was called Kawasaki.

The motor is what is on the ID castings. If the cases say EBR. It is an EBR.

Personally, I don't give a rat's banana where it is from as long as it is a high quality, durable item that delivers the expected level of performance and reliability.

LT5 motor in the 1990-1995 Corvette ZR-1

What's with all the bickering?

Well, we can not forget that 1190 is a special bike, designed for competitions, and therefore, everything is meticulously rebuilt it. The line of street bikes will certainly be of good quality but not excellent, in fact, as was the HD-Buell. Anyway, my XB9SX is here in my garage, I plan to soon Uly a park in my garage too, and one day an EBR!

That's the thing, it will always be a Ford engine no matter how much I change it. I have a 302 block in my shed that the only thing that is Ford original is the block itself. The block has been bored out .030 over with all aftermarket components inside..... it's still a Ford engine.

IMO, what EBR is doing is making that Rotax engine better. I'm not saying that's a bad thing and I love what they're doing, especially in the AMA races, but to say it's not a Rotax engine, IMO, is stretching it a bit.

And I'm just guessing here, that if/when EBR goes into full production mode that Rotax or maybe even Hero for that matter (depending on where that relationship goes) could/will be in line to build the EBR specific engine.

The Paradox of Theseus' Ship:

quote:

"The ship wherein Theseus and the youth of Athens returned [from Crete] had thirty oars, and was preserved by the Athenians down even to the time of Demetrius Phalereus, for they took away the old planks as they decayed, putting in new and stronger timber in their place, insomuch that this ship became a standing example among the philosophers, for the logical question of things that grow; one side holding that the ship remained the same, and the other contending that it was not the same."
—Plutarch, Theseus

"...if/when EBR goes into full production mode that Rotax or maybe even Hero for that matter..."

Could you imagine trying to sell a bike in the U.S. that was powered by a motor from the indian sub-continent (as I am pretty sure they are not honda motors)? Good luck with that one.

They just finished a contract/partnership with Honda just before they sponsored EBR

I for one am anticipating the new bikes. If I were to get excited at my age I might drop dead. While I would like some pre, pre release images, or something to make it more concrete sooner than later, its not like I don't have something to ride in the meantime. More information would be nice though. Less drama among us peasants might be o.k. too. My late brother used to say, "you're talking like a kid with a paper @$$hole." Seems like maybe a excess of paper going around. A little info out to us groupies might, er, dry that up.

Maybe I'll buy a GTR instead and just ride the old bike..... Hm.

In their respective niche markets yes.

Honda no longer has a stake in Hero.
