Riding home yesterday, my shifter pivot bolt came loose and fell out. I had to ride home in third gear. Kinda hard on the starts. I looked for the bolt on the road but could not find it. Can anyone tell me the length and diameter of the threaded section and the length and diameter of the non threaded section (or is there a bushing where the shifter is)? I need to find a replacement and would prefer to source it locally rather than going thru the mail or the hour to the HD store that still services bell. | ||

Can anyone look up the part number for me for this bolt? I find that to get the right part from my closest HD dealer, I need the part #. Thanks | ||

Take the shifter to the hardware section at Lowes and get one to fit. It's a common socket head cap screw. You might have to trim it to length if I remember. | ||

If you are talking about the bolt that holds the shift lever to the engine: p/n CA0015.02A8 Bolt, flange head. No cross reference in the fastener section, but it is the same bolt that holds the rear brake pedal on. p/n N0513.T Bearing, pedal (2). 2 top hat shaped nylon (I think) bushings. p/n N0599.02A8A Sleeve, shift/brake lever. The top hat bearings and the sleeve are the same p/n as the parts on the brake lever. All of these numbers are from my '08 XB parts book, so may or may not apply to an '05. | ||

Thanks AkBuell. I called and ordered one of the bushings today. They had the bolt and the other bushing in stock. I figured it was easier to get the parts from HD then to try and find a bushing that would work. Hope to be back on the road this week. |
