Hello, I recently had a little problem with only one headlight working that I got fixed...but I did take out the lights fuze to find that all the lights basically work except for the high beam. So...I guess I am wondering what the heck that fuse is for...perhaps only for the high beam? Seems a little much... | ||

When I take my lights fuse out, I have no tail lights and no head lights at all. I do still get instrument cluster though. | ||

Oh Joy....looks like I may not be done yet...or I am losing my mind. Hmm....I might just go to the dealer to see what their bikes do. | ||

LOL...solder the wrong thing, did ya Matt?  Removing your light fuse should kill ALL vehicle lights...if not, then there's a cross somewhere in your electronics. | ||

I was very careful when soldering...I have a modified soldering iron I use that is like 1/16 in diameter at the tip for small work I have done on my '68 El Camino in the past...works great. Now that I think about it...this is how it has always been since I got it earlier this year. When I was getting ready for a track day (my first time) it occurred to me taping up the lights could make the glue really stick if the lights were running all the time...not a good thing. So I took out the light fuse and everything was working as it did before except the high beam didn't work but I don't use that very much. I ended up taking the bulb out ofthe tail light and unhooking the wire for the low beam to resolve that issue. Basically the Lights fuse seems to only affect my High Beam...everything else works...dash, turn signals, low beam, tail light, brake light, etc. Seems to me this might be a warranty item if the wiring is not right but I will check some of the bikes at the dealer to compare against. I will also take a closer look at the wiring diagrams to see where something could be crossed. I have had zero electrical problems on this bike other than the little high beam issue which is fixed now. | ||

Your right Lovematt, the 15A LIGHTS fuse only protects the high beam circuit. Pull the fuse and you have no high beam. Everything else should work. | ||

My XB9R does the same thing L-matt. I never could find the fuse that killed the low beam. | ||

Sammigs...you come through again! I looked at the wiring diagrams and the links I saw there matched the behavior I was seeing. Honu...don't know if I ever want to hear about killing the low beam because that means the bike is dead...a sad, sad, sad thing indeed.  I recently had my Lights Fuse blow and both my Hi and Lo beams went out. Kinda scary since it did it 3 times in a row only when I tried to switch my Hi beams on. A couple days later it stopped and the both hi and lo work fine. I should note, I had gotten caught in the rain earlier and they may have had something to do with it. |
