Hello: I really like the sound/power/look of the Jardine and am debating getting it for my 12scg...My question: (I've heard conflicting answers) do I need to change/reprogram the ECM? or is it PURELY a slip-on modification? Many thanks for the info!!! BRandon |

You don't HAVE to do anything ECM related, but you are flat out stupid if you don't. The easiest solution is a Race ECM from EBR (I believe they have a config for the Jardine), but if you want to get a custom tune you can go that route too. |

yes, TUNE IT! With the EBR race ECM. AND... You will need to repack it every couple of thousand miles. The 12's exhaust pulse really beats the jardines. I've seen neglected Jardines blown apart. for some reason, the 9's aren't as hard on the Jardines as the 12's. But I think they are a great exhaust and have used them on most of my SB's. Just gotta remember to repack them regularly. |

I've put over 40K miles on my Jardine on my 12. I repacked it with better quality packing after about 7K. Haven't touched it since. No problems at all. I also have the baffle installed, something that people claim are the killer of Jardines. I did get my bike tuned so it doesn't get decel popping. IMO that's why my Jardine is holding up with no problems. |

There are 2 easy fixes that can be done using ECMSpy for decel popping with the Jardine. 1. Enable decel fuel cut off 2. Increase fueling to 40 on the bottom two rows from 1900rpm up |

And #2 gives you a much better transition from closed to open throttle. I tried the decel fuel cut off, but it just made for a very abrupt transition back into the throttle. Didn't like it at all. |

What is the best way to modify the ECM? I dont want to blow up the engine and am not super computer savy. Do HD shops do this? thanks |

Caution do not go to a HD store and ask this... They will freak out on you... decel cut fuel will make it run like a light switch, all twitchy and odd feeling,(very bad on a track setup). best to set decel fuel to 70%/80% in the scalars section on tunerpro rt to get decel gone. Then you have almost no engine braking. Therefore, if you want it to brake hard set decel to 110% and get the same result but more braking and no popping. Mike |

Just curious, what is the decel fuel cutoff? I had not heard of that function on the ECM. BTW, I have an aluminum Jardine RT-1 with Quiet Insert, chin fairing bracket, and the torque fix (really recovers torque with the '12s) that I need to sell. I ran it on my XB9, it has maybe 800 miles on it, 400 of which were with the bike tuned for it. (Message edited by Blaylock1988 on April 13, 2012) |

Load Tunerpro and open the scalars section. I use a lot of features in my ecms in that zone. Just as it is titled, it scales things... You can take a bike that is running and get it to run completely different without ever touching the fuel maps by moving the scalar values. They are pretty much the BIOS or instruction set telling the ecm what to do. Such as, how little or how much to do it. Tunerpro has so much data change power it is possible to reconfigure the whole ecm besides firmware. That we are still trying to figure out... How to flash an Upgrade or downgrade changing the firmware, like the dealer tool does and not be locked to a single firmware. I already got around how to use different firmwares in the ecm (a special program to convert from one firmware layout to another.) We have not figured out how to change the firmware in aftermarket tools (YET). |

I'll email you the data... what Pipe/filter you have .. I'll give you a starter map if I have it handy... Some places sell these from 250.00 and up. But its impossible to do a map perfect for a bike on a downer bike in different conditions than where it will be used. I get a kick out of it. I have tried a few of these maps from a few places and viewed the AFR's on my Dual gauges.I can say they were a mess even after two hrs riding. Just plain awful. ...To defend the map makers... I will say I would bet every penny I have the maps were good on the dyno and on that bike. They just didn't match mine nor the conditions I was riding it within or the fuel composition. It's not that they created a bad map, it just doesn't work how they would like and that is why each shop is now offering money back satisfaction. Some bikes and maps Must be made on the bike where your riding it. Or the map purchased needs datalogged a few rides and adjusted some each log to refine it to you on your bike. Both ways work.} |

Thanks! I am glad I am capable of datalogging myself. I hate paying money for things I can do myself...like oil changes. |
