Hi all, new to the board. After many years of owning sport bikes, I have finally decided to seriously look at owning a Buell. I have always been a fan of the Buell motorcycles, but never seriously decided on owning one until now... XB12R - the more I look at this bike, the more I want one... Being new to the Buell/HD scene, I am not familiar with the HD dealer etiquette. Do they offer demo rides? Do dealers regularly negotiate? If so, what kind of numbers should I expect to pay? These are just some initial questions I have, any replies would really be appreciated... Oh yeah, I have never seen one of these in person, but I can only imagine that the pictures dont do the beauty of these machines any justice. From all of the reviews I have read, all the reviews are great. Are these reviews from the magazines really accurate? Sometimes the reading seems just be to good to be true...

Welcome! Good dealers will offer a demo ride Most will negotiate Depends on if you want a 04 or 05 Some dealers(that usually suck at Buell) will almost give them away but then the dealer support usually reflects the low price. Find a good, pro-Buell dealer, work out a price you both think is fair and enjoy the bike! Dave rdcapt@hotmail.com H-D/Buell of Appleton WI |

What Dave said. IMO, most of the reviews dont do the bike justice. Where abouts you located? |

Im in Tampa...Been riding for about 15 years...mostly sport bikes, GSXR's and Ducati's and such. Sold my last bike (2001 GSXR 1000) about a year ago. After seeing the XB12R, I have been trying to figure out a way to get another bike back in my garage. |

Stopped by a local dealer who has an '04 demo unit left. It is red with 105 miles on it. I noticed that the exhaust was chrome and he said it had a sport package installed that included a sport exhaust, air filter and chip...they are asking $9995 for the bike with the sport kit on it. Anyone know what this sport kit entails? He also said the 04's list at $10,995...don't the 05's retail at $10,495?

Yes, his pricing is correct WRT MSRP. The 'sport kit' that he's referring to is the polished aluminum Buell Race Kit, which includes a K&N filter, Race ECM, and the muffler. I believe it retails somewhere in the $650 range. Get him to drop at least another $500...it's a demo, and they'll soon have '05s on the floor, so his $10,995 figure is worth the air it took him to breathe it out. They most certainly cannot sell an '04 at that price when the '05s are $500 cheaper. With a little negotiation I think you'd get a good deal out of that. |
