Hey, I got some Pirellis mounted today. Besides a few heat cycles and taking it easy the first few miles is there any other way to remove the 'mold release' or whatever it is that makes the new tires slick??? Kevin |

I've heard of folks using 300-400gpi sand paper to rough up the tires... Seems like a lot more work than to simply take it easy for the first couple hundred miles... BTW, I just replaced my stock 207s with Michelin Pilot Roads... For sure a different feel - can't say it's better than the OEMs... Just different.. Part of the reason is the fact that the Pilot Roads have a much rounder cross-section as compared to the Dunlop... But my goal this time was to extract more miles... I've only been getting about 2800-3000 out of the rear OEM... Hope to see 6000Mi out of the Michelins... One more thing while I'm here.. below is an oil changing tip to keep the exhaust pipe free of oil....

Kevin: You're not seriously going to try and convince us that your wife (if you have one) actually let you use her pyrex measuring cup for an oil change, are you!? If you're not married, it all makes sense. If you are, might I suggest that when she finds out, you opt for a sleeping bag on the couch rather than the dog house 'cos you're pancakes are gonna taste like crap (or at least 10W30 for months...) I am married - 20 years in fact... that explains why I have my very own 2qt measuring cup labled "motor oil use only" in red permanant marker... Besides its a cheap-O plastic wally-word version... But she still is pissed about the turkey baster I used for extracting brake fluid.... hehe... kk//kef |

HA! I didn't even see that written on the side until you pointed it out! That's classic. I put a 'For Beer Only' sign on my fridge in the garage. It's now fully of cookie dough, condiments only I eat and strange leftover things I don't care to identify. I ask you, just because I used a whisk to mix my pre-blend Motul into my race fuel does not make a bad person, does it? |
