I am new to the Buell community and all I ever read on this site is how bad the dealers are to Buell riders. People on this site talk about about how they trailer their bike 2-3 hours to go to a dealer that treats them with respect. So I do not understand why you are all complaining about the bad dealers closing. I will admit that while I have not bought a Buell, yet(still learning to ride and waiting to graduate from college, x-mas '04) you guys had me scared to buy a Buell. I start looking around for a deal that was nice and I would want to buy my bike from in the spring. I was lucky and found a dealer rather quickly that likes the Buell bike and is more than willing to help the customer. Just to let you know it is a 3 hour drive to this dealer from my home. So while some of the dealers are no longer selling Buell bikes. There are other dealers out their that are trying to sell the bikes. So maybe rather than only posting the bad things about the dealers near you. You guys should also try and talk more about the good dealers, because people that do not ride Buells that might be looking to buy a bike do not want to hear how bad dealers are across the nation. I know if it was not for a friend of mine riding a Buell I would not be getting one because all I ever read about is how bad life is when you own a buell and how you are treated so poorly by dealers and other riders. I know people on this forum talk about how they went to a dealership and got treated good but all I see is my dealer treats me good or I was riding cross country and this dealer treated me great. Who where these dealers that treated you great. I can look on this site and make a list of dealers that suck, but making a list of dealers that are good can be rather difficult. I know in the Knowledge vault there is a place to rate dealers and I have rated the dealer that was nice to me. I would talk about how bad the dealer was near my house, but then I would be leaving out the other dealers near my house that suck when it comes to buying a boat or a jet ski. The point is that a lot of dealers treat customers poorly not just the buell dealers and I know people that complain about their dealers whether it Kawasaki, Yamaha, or even Harley owners. So guys please quit acting like babies and say how Buell dealer suck. You make it sound like if I bought a different bike I would get better serves. This not true there are a lot of other bad dealers out there that treat their customers like crap. The best thing you can do is buy your bike else where and let the bad dealers die off and help the good ones. So even if you are going to flame for this post. Please feel free to post the name and address of your favorite dealer so other people can find these dealers.

My favorite dealer is
Iron Block Harley-Davidson

Even though some complain more than others, it is more upsetting when we see the "good" dealers stop selling Buell.

I believe this is a small community of individuals who have bitten by a bug, and have realized how much fun you can have owning a Buell.

I know I would not have bought my M2 over 5 years ago if not for this site and I would not be riding my 9R right now.

I personally use Danbury HD and love them.

Hey Mark, you don't have to drive too much further from Iron Block to get the opposite end of the Buell dealers spectrum, as in real 'casual' toward selling and repairing Buells. Drive down 81 to Performance Harley/Buell in Syracuse and see if they'll give you the time of day there....

You ever get to the Milwaukee area, Hal's HD/BMC is first class and there are quite a few others right up there with them.

My one and only dealer is.

Cycle City LTD
2965 North Nimitz Hwy.
Honolulu, Hawaii 96819
(808) 831-2600
http://www.cyclecityltd.com/

Me: I would like to come in a little early and put the race kit on in the parking lot.
Service Dept: Sure you don't want us to do it, if not that's cool.
Me: No! I'll take care of it. I also want certain things down on the 5K service not the full service.
Service Dept: Okay just write down what you want done, that should make the 5K services a little cheaper.

Not to mention these guys know me by name when I call.

Excellent service all around from parts to service.

Mark...you're right in that the gloom and doom can settle in on some threads around here pretty quickly...but I think you'll find the advice you get around here, about dealers and other things, very accurate and very useful

I use Danbury HD also and they have been great to me

I'll have to admit I was very apprehensive concerning the dealership I purchased my bike from at first, but come to find out, they are just so darn busy performing working scheduled maintenance and adding accessories to those harleys ( you know, the new "got the cash get the image" group of sunday riders out there ) that they give the impression they don't need your business. I just took mine in for the TPS adjustment, two days, $32.00 and a fresh coat of rock dust from being on the back lot during a rain storm, and the bike seems just fine. Did I mention I had to schedule for this service 3-1/2 weeks in advance? Good service?

To date, the dealer component of many folks Buell experience has not been the high point....the good news is that in the scheme of things it is far outweighed by the POSITIVES.

At least it has been for me for the last 20 years!

well i didnt buy my bike from the local buell dealer near me but i did talk to them and though the place was largely more catering to h-d (natraly) they were very nice and freindly even though i was interested in the buells insted of a harley heck they even let me take a xb9s (before 12's were out) and he told me about the 12's. yet i still got a 9 and a usd one but my point is they are a good dealership. so if ur in central tx check out:
Bell County Harley-Davidson/Buell
875 W.Central Texas Expressway
Harker Heights, TX 76548
AND
720 N. General Bruce Drive
Temple, TX 76504

I've got mixed feelings about the dealers.

On one hand, my bike is batting 1000 in the service departments: EVERY single time my bike has gone into a dealer service department, it has left with something wrong with it that wasn't when it went in. I do most of my own service, it was mostly recalls that they've gone in for. And most of the things screwed up were just a bolt that wasn't tightened and I either found it loose or it fell off. But I also had my Stator wire pinched/severed on a stator repair on the road, a tank retention bolt hole on the frame stripped, and a rear wheel lathed by a 1/2 installed rear brake pad. I'm not the worlds greatest/fastest wrench, but I double check my work, and I wish the dealers would too. Is it bad training? Careless wrenches? Or time pressure due to inadequate time allotments for certain jobs? Not sure. God knows motorcycle mechanics don't make a lot of $$$, and I'd bet that tends to make for a generally lower experience base in general as mechanics move on to more lucrative wrenching jobs.

On the other hand, I get to deal with a LOT of dealer parts departments these days in my American Sport Bike job. And frankly, I've been very pleasantly surprised by how friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful 90% of those that I've dealt with have been. Granted, the ones I deal with tend to be the Buell dealers with Buell enthusiasts, but still, I'd give them very high marks. I used to only deal with one or two dealer parts departments, and comments I'd heard here made me think I'd see more issues out there. I'm pleasantly surprised at how good they are.

I must say that sales and parts departments of the place I purchased my bike ( H-D Of Frederick, Md.) have been great. I'm luke warm on the service side. No real problems on service they have performed, more of an attitude thing. I also live equally close to Battlefield HD, ( Gettysburg, PA.) and have had purchased many parts from them, and they are awesome in that area. The nice thing about both dealerships is that they seem to honestly promote Buells, saying good things about them, and have sales and at least one parts guy, who own, and even race them.

there are lots of good dealers out there but...you knew it was coming.....there are many bad ones also. and I applaud you on wanting to be positive and such, but understand that when you get the screws put to you it is hard not to go on about it.

your still new to this game and welcome aboard. get the bike they are great.

but understand also if you don't see a dealer on here getting trashed than just possibly they are one of the good ones.

but this is an opinonated crowd, and the bad ones need to be beat down like the child they are

Dealers...Yep some good and some not so good at least in reference to the sales and service of Buell's.

One thing you do have that you can count on is Al at American Sport Bike. I just heard that he bought up the dealer inventories of the Discontinued Race ECM's and that is a good thing for all of us. Rather than having to rely on dealers finding dealers with the things in stock, all we need to do is contact American Sport Bike.

Quite honestly, I believe that Al is providing a valuable service for us that will save us time and tantrums.

Al, on behalf of all of us, thank you for your aggressive approach to your business.

Shawn...
As far as I know, Cycle City has the only Buell Tech on the island. Cycle City mentioned that they are getting a dyno soon too. I haven't heard anything about South Seas, but if you have a Buell(which I am assuming that you do) Cycle City is the place to go. I have also done business with Rev Tech. These guys put the force pipe, filter and jet kit. It just seemed that their heart wasn't in it. If I would have taken a Suzuki over there, I bet they would have dialed it in. I've done business with Cycle Sport and they gouged my rims on the M2. The tech was complaining that you have to take off the brakes to change the tire and that was a pain in the . I never had any problems with Cycle City.

To add to the good,

Glendale H-D Buell in Glendale, CA has been very good to Buellers.

They keep an inventory, support a BRAG chapter and the rare times I have been in the service dept. have been good experiences.
