In the 5 years I've been around the Buells, from tubers to Blasts to XB's I've never seen a factory muffler break and I've never heard of one breaking. So with that in mind what does that say for the DRUMMER??? |

Spidey snapped two... Those two cans sat in the garage for ages - both snapped right where the 90 degree bend enters the exhaust (M2, not an XB). |

How in the hell could you break one!? I think you'd have to try real hard. Or wreck the bike. Edit: Header maybe, but the muffler? edited by glitch on July 24, 2004 |

Done that...snapped the header right where it enters the muffler on my Blast...those damned little paintshakers rattle around too much! Course, now it's got a Pro Series on it, so no complaints! |

Darthane now ask spidey is that before the the recall on the old front muffler hanger???Cause the bushings in the old would go and then your muffler would crack. But when they put the Y-bracket on them no more problems. |

LOL...couldn't tell ya. I doubt very much it was a problem with the muffler itself - most likely it was the mounts/isolators. They both broke pretty close together, though, before he got a ProSeries and popped that on there. We were on the way to my aunt's place the first time it went...rolling along and all of a sudden MJ was twice as loud! When my Blast's header went it was much the same. Suddenly I realized my bike was far, FAR louder than it should have been! FWIW, the stock mufflers on both of my bikes have been whacked on curbs and speedbumps more than a few times, and so have the Pro Series for both - no ill effects other than some scratches. I have absolutely no doubt that the Drummer is just as solid. |

eBay or other BWBers. I've got one I'll part with in that price range - XB9. |

Deerhunter... The valve is no longer needed. I have a 12r and I am using a 9 can.

Deerhunter, I too picked up a 9 can for my 12S conversion. I've been told they're lighter then the 12 cans. |

Thanks, I'll check it out. But I would like to get my hands on 12 cause I would like to try a little therapy of my own. But as for the drummer, sound like getting a 9 can and sending it in would be the ticket, Thanks! |

Question. I too am thinking of sending my stock can in for a drummer. As I was tooling around on the net the other day I came across this web site. www.geocities.com/buell_racing/muffler.html My question is had anyone tried this? if so what are the pro's and con's? I would rather give drummer my business but I am just curious Chad |

Firebolt - Texas Motorsports Ranch is about 180ish miles maybe? Its just south of Fort Worth on Highway 377. I was going to do a write up on my impressions of the Drummer, BUT... While unloading my bikes I got stung by something on the neck. It burns like hell, feels like my neck is on fire. Im not allergic to anything, but I have never felt this kind of pain before from an insect sting. Im going to tend to that and call it a night, Im beat! Track day was a blast, I didnt crash, made new friends and didnt have to go to work. |

Sardawg2dpd, a friend of mine did that to his XB9S. It sounded ok but he said it hurt the performance some. I do not think he had a dyno run done so that is just a seat of the pants observation.

I like them both. Each has their own benefits and I really dont think that there is any way the discrepancies between them would be something that would bother or affect the way I ride on or off the track. The D&D is a safer pipe for the street imo, people know you are there with the D&D, I dont get that feeling with the Drummer. On the track, I liked the down end grunt the Drummer provided me, but I missed the top end grunt the D&D had. All in all, both great pipes and I think that no matter what a person gets - they will be happy. |

this has been going on so long now I would just like to reiterate..... first off thanks austin for the review, thats actually perfect what you said about the drive out of the corner. but as it is clear by the dyno the lil drummer has more top end grunt also. it seems everyone forgets this, but its all cool. just thought I'd throw up a reminder |

I think that I remember this question had been posted before. If I am not mistaken, the ECM thinks there is a less restrictive exhaust and leans the mixture out. (I was trying to be frugal once also) I ended up ponying up the cash for the Race ECM and the pipe, just to be safe. Still like the Drummer investment after 15K miles! |
