well to every one that feels obligated to thank me your very welcome it really makes me feel marm and tingly in side to know that the people that share a comon interest in me seem to be proud of me cuz the news sure the f**k dont cuz all they ever talk about is how we dont need to be here and stuff and how this is such a bad thing were doing and blah blah blah but its like i said in a nother topic: well let me give u people soe insight as im in the war at this time and though i dont know if this was politacal mobo jumbo or had any thing to do with oil or if there is alquida here in iraq i do know that there are peiceful freindly iraqi people here that would love to have the same freedoms we do and not live in fear like they have to and there is bad poeple here trying to prevent the good people from having that so i say to all of you when u say that we shouldnt be here would you and your familys want to live in the same fear and would you want to be treated like •••• also just a thought from some one who is here first hand |

Keep you head down when the shooting starts, and make sure that it ends with a round from your rifle! As an ex-paratrooper I can't tell you how proud I am of you guys over there. Even though it doesn't get reported in the news, most people know that the average soldier is doing a great job and support them 100%. I'll buy you more than one beer if you ever make it to a homecoming out here. JT |

Firebolt, I know exactly how you feel. When I went to Iraq the first time everything was great! Public loved us, hell, the whole world loved us. Now Somalia and Bosnia were different stories. You always hear the propaganda about how everybody appreciates what you're doing, your country loves you, blah, blah, blah.......It seemed very disheartening to me personally because, like you, I never saw it in the news, papers, etc. In fact, when I came back from Bosnia, I looked in all the papers I could find, Time, Newsweek, etc. watched the news and it was like we weren't even there. It really sucked.......BUT........there are tons of people that do appreciate what you are doing whether you realize it or not. The American people may be oblivious about alot of things, but a good many of them realize what you and I do and did and it really, truly, sincerely is appreciated. Come back in one piece........... |

And it's not just your own people who appreciate your job. Thanx from the Netherlands mate! I just wish our government wasn't so wimpy and let OUR men do their jobs too! There are not too many of us there but those who are can't even do their job cos they'll face prosecution from our own bloody country like this marine Erik O. who is now going to jail because he killed an Iraqi during this war! So your a marine, your trained to use weapons, your sent to Iraq during the war, you do your job, someone gets killed and then you get your butt sewed in court! Damn our country sucks BIG TIME! |

D.J., There's nothing like a stint in countries like that to make you appreciate what you have. We have become very apologetic for being Americans but I had an old man in Panama bring tears to my eyes as he told me all the GREAT things that America had done around the world in his lifetime. Or the Saudi gentleman that drove out to my position just to shake our hands and say thank you for being there (in '90-'91). And the German lady inviting a half dozen GIs into her home for breakfast just to show her appreciation for what we'd done in WWII when she was a little girl. Priceless! |
