Okay, this seems to be a reoccuring topic, however I cant seem to get a straight answer from all the people I contact. I cannot not figure out what I need to do to get a 2008 xb12stt mapped correctly. I contacted Kevin at Kdfab who instructed me to contact a mike here on the board who told me a custom map would need to be made? Im not very tech savy especially when it comes to tunning and I thought Id just check and see what guys on the forum have done. | ||

Don't expect a handout if you haven't purchased their pipe. Mike is right, every bike is different so you would need to tune the map to your bike. Do you know what firmware your bike has? Is it BUEOD? BUEOD does work with ECMSpy. The program used to burn maps or tune the DDFI3 ecm is pretty difficult to use. With a DDFI3 system, most would suggest to go with a E.B.R. ecm. Instead of asking for a map consider talking to someone you can send your ecm to so they can put a map on it. It might cost a little but not as much as a E.B.R. ecm. | ||

How do I check the firmware uploaded on my bike? Im a good learner if someone can point me towards a walkthrough that will work with 08 models. I seem to be finding all 07 and older tutorials. I am not expecting a handout and I did purchase their pipe. | ||

You will need a cable and software to communicate with the ecm to determine the firmware. Some of the 08 firmware works just like the '07 and earlier. If ECMSpy does not work you will need to get TunerPro set up. All the info on the is on Mike's site xoptiinside.com. | ||

I am working on an application that will go on the website. it will do one job and one only read firmware and date. well a couple jobs. check cables and report back what ADX and XDF file you need if your using Tunerpro. I have it working but I need to clean it up and be 100% first. Currently its having to click the read button twice to get the ecm firmware and data. plus the comport is manual select not auto find. I want auto find like ecmspy did. I have had a couple guys try to help me but I dont know Java or the C++ they tried so what was created went right over my head. I am at the drawing board and I am using Visual studio 2010 so 95% of the online info is out dated commands not available now or name changed with no reference as to what the new names are. The MSDN site is outdated as well in the serial port area. working on it... | ||

Okay I should be meeting up with a local guy this week who knows more about this than I do. What is the difference made in 08 that makes it different? | ||

80 % of the data in in different spots IE (firmware.) Plus more rows and columns or data per map as the most basic differences. Overall flow on data transitions in the eeprom chip follow the same pattern. therefor, how to tun it stays the same. Here is a few tricks I will let out now!!!, Tune it two to four times. once for two different weathers and two different altitudes. Find the center points make that map load it to the ecm. Then let the bikes sensors adjust since it will be within range for your area and all conditions. It now work well and can self adjust across the full spectrum based on feedback from the bikes sensors. If your doing ready made maps its an EPIC Fail for many... they missed one step. normally... (cat is out the bag) lol You need to get maps made that are spot on from a few bikes done as above. Then blend that... over all 5 to 10 bikes 4 maps each. whoa- a lot of analyzing you say, but really needed to work correct. once you write a little program to center all maps by value from average you will get an over all starting point based on good maps from good bikes. These type of ready mad maps work best. Those single bike made map on a single dyno in one place just dont have the spectrum analysis to work well on many conditions and many bikes. That is why some do some don't and many places now offer free adjustments and 100% refunds if the ecm or files loaded dont work for your bike. It's not that there map made is bad on purpose or they didnt know what they were doing; its just not balanced across many bikes and conditions in-turn doesn't work for your bike. These are still good starter maps to fine tune to your bike. See how simple it is now. If you going to sell maps to an area make sure you have collected data from that area by demographic values. No data no map can be super accurate. Sure they may work but How well? The drummer maps made we did came from many bikes over time, then compiled from data from all over the USA. Kevin really likes the drummer map we made over all others he tested. I did the same thing on the D&D map. Anyone hiring I need a new JOB... I do attain a few degrees in computers Hardware and software including Motorcycle Mechanics. Currently working on Bachelors in PC Technology. New ECM application is working... Very cool, I feel like that gave more of an understanding of this whole process than any other write up. Now basically Im finding a map that will act as a starting point, then the tuning process begins from there? I think the tuning process sounds easiest, so Im not too concerned about finding a map that his been tested on a multitude of different bikes. Where should I look for a starter map at? What programs will be best to upload and tune since I have an '08? The bike runs poorly now (popping on decel, loss of power) so Im feeling like anything will be better even if it isnt completely spot on for my area. | ||

Tunerpro Rt and if the bike is running you already have a starter map to start with. It came with the bike. Many call it OEM... |
