Guys, I installed the Erik Buell Racing ECM last week and I can state flatly its NOT going to stay in. The bike runs worse that before, no power below 5k. I mean NONE. The lovely torque is gone and if you want to pass you have to downshift it like a two-stroke to get any power. It also has a hiccup (fart?) like someone is clicking the kill switch off-on really fast while in steady state cruise. just occasional but enough to make you wonder. I can live with the retarded fan settings. I've already had the fuel pump and all the top end gaskets done under warranty and its just at 9k miles. It's out of warranty this month and I'm thinking it might be time to unload it. Very disappointing. Jim |

Contact Erik Buell Racing regarding your unusual findings. Did you perform a TPS reset and allow the IAC to adjust? |

Did you do a TPS reset? Mine runs like a top with the Erik Buell Racing ecm in it. Something went wrong on install. |

It wouldn't be the first time they sent an ECM out with a wonky map, it happens. I don't think this is standard for that ECM. Send it back and I think they'll re-flash it and then you'll probably be quite pleased with it. FWIW my '09 runs great with an Erik Buell Racing ECM. |

Neither "blake" But you sound like one. I did the tps reset three times. After every reset I let it idle ten minutes and then I put 50 to 100 miles on it, it's still not right. IF, this is an improvement then it sucks. I had planned on returning it. Jim |

I hope I never have to go back to the stock ECM on my 08 XT. The bike runs much better at all RPM,s for me and I thought it was not that bad with the stock ECM. I will only re-install the stocker if the Erik Buell Racing ECM fails and I cannot buy another. Please contact Erik Buell Racing and see what they can do for you. Thanks. |

Opening post. Respectful? Thoughtful? Or idiotic? My tolerance for trolls is at an all time low. Absolutely no apologies. |

I recently installed the Erik Buell Racing ECM in my '09 Uly (stock otherwise), and I'd say it maybe runs a little better, but not what I'd hoped for. It's still prone to a bit of surging/stumbling at constant throttle, under 60 mph or so. It's difficult to make comparisons from memory, but I don't see great improvement over my prior bone-stock '06 Uly (other than the fan setup) |

Blake, Its not my first post here you tool. Don't you have anything better to do? I'm trying to find a solution to my bikes issue not babysit keyboard morons. Nothing constructive? then why not stfu? Now I understand why most people never post a problem here. If you have a problem your an idiot or a troll. Jim |

looks like we got off on the wrong foot. So... I also installed the Erik Buell Racing ecm and was completely disappointed. Bike ran worse. I had no idea what all the hype was about and you'll find several people here that agree with that statement. What I did do was contact Erik Buell Racing and they reflashed the ECM. Still ran poorly so they they did it again. Later I read they updated the maps, so I contacted them and finally after a third time the bike runs a little better. Not perfect, but at least I feel like it made some improvement. Maybe it shouldn't have taken 3 times, but my XB is one of a kind apparently. My point is that Erik Buell Racing WILL help you and they WILL make it right by you, all you need to do is communicate with them and offer a bit of patience. Let them know what is happening so they help diagnose the issue. Not sure what all the idiot and troll comments were about from others.... but let us know how it goes after you contact Erik Buell Racing. They'll fix it, I promise. |

I know Jim...he is a dern nice guy. He is a stickler for perfection...most likely because if HE screws up a job...people can die. Jim, send the ECM back and they will fix it...and oh yeah....we need to go riding again. |

I have to agree that Erik Buell Racing can sometimes send out a wonky ECM because I got one the first time too. It is worth the trouble to send it back because in the end it is a vast improvement over stock. I would never go back to the stocker except in the case of a failure as a spare. |

Hmm. Not sure we need the bashing here. Reporting negative experiences like this is good for the whole group, but only if they can be corrected. I, too, received a bad first ECM from Erik Buell Racing as it had no fan logic in it. Bike ran fine, but fans would not come on. Contacted Erik Buell Racing, stated the problem, and received a response near instantly that I should ship it back, and it was a known issue. New ECM received, bike runs better than it ever has. I, too, suggest contacting Erik Buell Racing. |

>>> Now I understand why most people never post a problem here. If you have a problem your an idiot or a troll. You're not only rude and prone to inflammatory self-centered outbursts, but now you've drifted into outright dishonesty. You claim to be seeking help. I missed that in your initial post. All that entailed was you complaining, whining, calling the fan function "retarded" and threatening selling the bike. That is what identifies you as a troll. Failing to grasp the obvious, call Erik Buell Racing to seek resolution, makes you an idiot. I just have no patience for babysitting anyone behaving so poorly. I agree. You should sell it. |
