Like many of my brethren, faithful members of the Buellerati, dedicated knights of the temple of the V-Twin, I must say I am in despair. I beg for guidance and surely I will awake from this nightmarish scene.

You see, as you finally made inroads towards legitimacy as a reliable brand with a growing niche and faithful following, you curdle the milk by introducing what can only be described as pimped out dirt bike with biker-boyz-ricer-iMac tupperware bodywork and knuckle guards designed to protect my digits should they be struck by an errant airborne squirrel on my way back from the corn harvest.

Is there something funny in the water in WI?

Should I wish to purchase a motorcycle that I can herd cows with, wobble over the moguls after, pretend I'm Ricky Carmichael with and then head into "town" for a jaunt down Main street before having supper at Aunt May's Cajun Kitchen and laundromat, I would assuredly consider your new "city cross bike."

However, I fear my insurance costs will skyrocket when Land Rover Discovery owners realize they can replace lost cattle guards/light covers by stealing them from wayward Buell owners' front light arrays.

I knew not that those in the HD intelligencia division had been torturing you with sleep deprivation whilst passing electric current through your nipples as you whistled Neil Diamond tunes -- all the while making you dream up the next Ducati killer.

Well here we are...

Assist me, Captain - my captain -- as I fear I am conflicted. It is bad enough to be laughed at by those straddling Italian steeds, scorned by those with inline-4 150+HP Japanese typhoons, but now my beloved brand will be subjected to the scorn of those who ride a Honda CRF450R motocross bike!

I can barely do a stoppie let a lone a can-can or cherry clicker.

While I recognize the public will suffer the shock and awe of seeing my velocity stack trumpet right through my airbox cover and quake in their boots as they realize my fuel is in the frame and the oil is in the swingarm, I have nothing to wear any longer as I have no shoes to match the bodywork and no earrings to coordinate with the wheels.

The puck sliders are cool though.

...man did you ever take a hit in the credibility department. This is a f---ing joke. No power increase, no useful improvements, very little "evolution" let alone "revolution."

It's sad, really.

I love my '03 XB9, but that Monster ST4 is looking better and better -- at least I can find matching slippers.

Buell, getting more queer in every sense.

SHeesh.

Chris

Laugh back at the guys on Italian bikes. Most of them must travel extensive amounts of miles to get $17.00 tranny fluid. The scorn felt by Jap riders needs to be given right back. Try explaining the advantages of torque to the next squid you meet that gives you crap about your motorcycle.

If I find anyone riding an XB in competition against dirt bikes I'd laugh at them to.

Yes, but they make a better cappucino...

I will, right after I manage to extract my hands from the brushguards and remove the wayward twigs from the headlamp covers...or remove my heated leftovers from atop the tupperware airbox cover nee' Ron Popeil lunch box.

Just for the record, I've had NOONE EVER give me crap about MY motorcycle, but then again, I'm not riding the Buell-o-ghetto-fabulous XBCGXTC9R model, either.

Fetch the Gimp!...

I LOVE MY bike - but then again it's not the XBqueer model. You have got to be kidding me. Blind faith, it's a beautiful thing.

I think you typo'd -- you seem to have misplaced a decimal point, as I believe that should read "30%"

Hmmm...

ken, I think a lot of folks are feeling a similar type of frustration, they just dont put it all down in print because they dont want to deal with the ones who think only their opinion is valid.

Chris..hilarious writing.

Just as an aside, I think it was aimed more at the BMW GS with a dash of Ricky (either one your choice) thrown in. I seriously doubt the CRF400 has anything to worry about, except maybe on a fire road...then maybe...But I too agree with the "tupperware" look of the bodywork.

Bro, don't take it seriously. If you can't figure out it was a kneeslapper, might I offer you this little gem; it's the new toolkit that comes with the XBTCG9LVX model:

'05 Buell Toolkit

Besides, we own the "cool models" ; )

Like I said, I don't have a pair of pumps to match...

Mashed, please.

I don't see what the big f'n deal is with everyone whining about the XBSX. It's a different color XB9S, deal with it. Are you pissed that the XB9R is only yellow now? You can take off the bar covers, and after a few thousand miles you can get whatever tires you want. Obviously enough people change the color of their bikes around here anyway so here's another color on the palette. If you actually read all their marketing, it doesn't claim to be an off road bike at all. We like Buells because they're different, so they go and try to make something even more different....but then people bitch that they're trying to be too different. Cut them some slack, they're making kick bikes.

I think a lot of people had some pretty high expectations, like an XB breakthrough all over again. That's just not possible every couple years ya know. What about the fact that they dropped the price! Nobody seems impressed about that.

If you want a Ducati, go buy one, and have fun with the frequent chain adjustments and other maintenance headaches. In the meantime, you can get an XB9R or 12R for less than last year with more colors to choose from and that great 2yr warranty.

I strongly recommend that you go buy one then. I could certainly see why some people won't like that bike, but do you think your opinion is the only one there is? I don't care if the post was (declared afterwords anyway) a knee slapper...

Personally, I like the new XB. I think there will be a lot of cool colors (albeit with a blue tint : )) to come from this. I only wish they had come out with that bodywork for an R as well.

Hey, Mr. Opinion himself levels one at me! Nice!

To wit I respondeth... "No."

It's my opinion. You and everyone else are entitled to yours. It appears the only difference is that I respect that fact, and others would pretend to get their feelings hurt.

I love my 2003 XB9s.

The 04 XB12S & R are cool machines. Though the wheel color I just can't take. and I prefer the 984 cc over the 1200 cc engine for the higher rev limit.

HOWEVER...

To the team the pimped out the XB9SX... WHAT THE HELL WERE YOU THINKING???

The only way the XB9SX could be any stranger, and totally off mark with the concept of the street fighter, would have been if it had a springer front end, a bunch of chrome and leather streamers on the levers, in addition to the other changes for 05!!!

A perfectly good machine has been turned into to some sick joke!

OK... I will say this in simple terms, and I will type slow so I don't lose anyone on the team

IF IT AIN'T BROKE... DON'T FIX IT!

When I heard the rumor the XB9 was no longer going to be available, I was very frustrated, as the higher rev limit on the 984 engine really captivated me. The XB12 is nice, but the lowered rev limit of that engine made me happy I bought a 9 and did not wait for a 1200 cc engine. After seeing the XB9SX, I see a Picaso, that someone "made better" with Crayons!!!!

IT WASN'T BROKE... WHAT MADE YOU THINK IT NEEDED TO BE FIXED???

WHAT A LET DOWN!!!

Want to make up for this years blunder...in 06???

MAKE A SPORT TOURING MODEL WITH A BIG FUEL TANK AND SOME HARD BAGS, and steal some business from BMW!!!

C'mon guys, while the XB9SGX (or whatever) isn't your cup o' tea it is probably targeted at an audience that will like it and you don't have to park next to one if you see it in the parking lot. : )

It's just one more bike in the Buell line up, it will either succeed or fail on its own merits. In the mean time the XB9 and 12 have some new colors, a lower price and will continue to attract new buyers. That's a good thing.

...and you don't have to park next to one if you see it in the parking lot.

I probably couldn't fit next to those knuckle-shields!

"It's just one more bike in the Buell line up, it will either succeed or fail on its own merits."

If only it were that simple. This affects ALL Buells. The press already craps on these bikes for nothing more than ignorant reasons. THis means people get turned off. This means that Buell sells less bikes. This means that they don't put effort into improving the "meat" of the line, but rather they "tart" it up to attract new market verticals.

How about belts that don't break, a better tranny, more power, and a programmable ECU!?
It doesn't have to go 160 MPH, it at least needs to make progress towards it.

Instead of focusing on their core competency, we've now got the flashdance equivalent of "queer XB9 for the straight guy"...

I LOVE my XB9 and will always have it, but I'm also about a couple of months away from this...

It may need chain adjustments and use $17 oil, but it's faithful to what it is:
