OK... So after so many setbacks that I don't want to list them all I finally sat down today to start putting my engine back together... The damn new lifters were half wrong! Two of them were correct, two had the anti-rotation area ground on the wrong sides! Does anyone know of a lifter and reseller that actually knows their @ss from a hole in the ground? I think this is one reason why so many people get frustrated trying to work on these things, many of the resellers/manufacturers are FRACKING STUPID or the ones that know sell parts like this that are too damn expensive. I can not pay $100 for each regular hydraulic lifter (Jim's). Maybe this is a sign that I should just part the piece of $hit out like so many other people have done. I'm looking for something better than stock because I don't want to be back in this thing in 1000 miles for an under performing lifter. Please do not suggest Comp.Cams, these are the people that told me they don't sell anything for Buell on the phone and then a different person sends an email with suggestions on what they do have that fits (if they ship the correct parts). And I'm looking for someone that will ship damn fast and not kill me on shipping, these lifter can ship Priority USPS in small flat rate box. Stock XB9 cams, stock pushrods, stock rockers so I need stock height lifters. |

Do you have a pic of the lifters that are incorrect? I am curious about them!! I will be assembling my motor soon. |

They are sitting in a container of oil, I can draw something tomorrow at work to show the right from the wrong. It basically comes down to the anti-rotation flat spots on the top of the lifter being 90 degrees wrong. If the top flats are on the same sides as the oil hole you have the wrong lifters, this will put the roller going across the cams not around the cams. Looks like I'm going with Feuling HP+: http://www.chrome-addiction.com/p-feuling-oil-pump -tappet-set-tc-hp-09290005-10050008.php?r=froogle But I'll check out the Zippers before I order just to make sure. The picture in the link is correct, the ones that I got that are wrong have the top flats 90 degrees to what you can see above. |

if the cams, pushrods, and rockers are all stock, why not use the stock lifters? |

However, I was told by Our Sales rep , these are no more than the LS1 tappets renamed and resold at higher prices. he told me to buy the kits with #875-1 tappets in them (same thing) and get four sets for the price of two or any good tappet made to fit that engine as a replacement. I would need to look up the details I have on file in the notes backup on paper in my Garage to get exact numbers of which GM units fit.. |

Pretty sure the 875-1 is what I bought that they shipped the wrong pieces. I have Feuling on the way, maybe if I ever do this again maybe I'll use the LS1 lifters in a 16 pack (or maybe not due to negative bias with the company). I sure hope the Feuling all come in as the correct part. Also Comp Cams has never responded to my email even though I replied to the email receipt. If you talk to your rep again, tell them they screwed up and I'm pissed, especially so since they haven't bothered to answer my email. |
