The HID headlights generate light a completely different way then a filament bulb does. The light is a different wavelength (like frequency). Think of it like a speaker. Trying to make a filiment bulb look like a HID bulb, is like trying to make a subwoofer out of a tweeter by just pumping incredible amounts of power to the tweeter, and covering it with a bunch of blankets so only the low frequencies come out. It will never really work, no matter how cheap tweeters are and how much power your amp can put out.

Pep Boys had H4's made by Sylvania. They were around $35 for the pair. Not worth it if you ask me. |

420 dont do it man. blue light doesnt work real well. you will not see a deer 15 feet in front of a blue light. they suck at night dont try it. i tried some 100 watt blue bulbs in wifes jeep, she hated them, so i put them on my sportster, cause she refused to use them. they would not illuminate moose at all, and lost all depth perception at night. could not determine texture of road surface at all at night. currently running some standard wattage PIAA extreme white bulbs (55 watt H7) in the lightning and they rock. very highly recommend the PIAA extreme white. so far i have 7000 miles on them, and no problems. they really light up the road, make the moose "glow" and are real good for dpth and road texture which is real helpful at hi speeds in the dark. they aint blue, but they work real well. good luck. |

I have a friend that runs some blue crap on his Lincoln Mark VIII and they absolutely suck *** (to quote Cartman). White is the best thing to use shy of HID's ($$$$$$$$$$$........) |

Donnie, You wrote: "ive bought FOUR sets of headlights trying for that blue look the first set i got from al wrong wattage and ended up shorting n over heating" I have no record of such a transaction, pre or post my purchase of A.S.B last January, unless you bought under someone elses name. Please clarify what you bought or where. We sell bulbs, but only good ones. I'm not partial to blue glow bulbs, but I much prefer shadow resolution with whitish light than with yellowish light. The best way to get that whitish cast is thru the use of superior materials in the construction of the bulb, but even the blue filtered bulbs work better for me personally than the cheapie clear ones...but I'm partially colorblind, YMMV. Nope, no bulbs from me, unless you used a different last name than Griffeth. Cory is at Ironworks, not sure of any Al there. The quote on the CF WAS discussed with me, though. CF tails and fairings for XB Rs may get done some day, especially since buell didn't announce another model this year that would have required my immediate tooling response. But I have a few other CF parts in line in front of those parts, and until they're done, I can't give a quote for colored CF parts for the fairing and tail. Al |
