I've owned my 2005 XB9SX (7k miles) for a few months now and am ready to start ironing out some of the quirks. With that, does anyone have any suggestions for improving throttle response? Off idle, I've noticed the throttle response to be more delayed and more 'jerky' than I would like (even when overlapped with trail braking). I don't think it's abnormal for the bike, but would like to improve upon what the factory produced. What has worked for you? What should I try? |

A E.B.R. race ECM will do wonders for the jerky off idle response...it will calm it down a lot and make it much easier to roll on throttle on transition from apex. |

TPS reset should help a lot. |

I don't really know what your symptoms are, but 3 things that might help: 1) properly adjusted throttle cables. This is often overlooked, and can make a huge difference. 2) If your intake/throttle body/throttle plate are gunked up at all, run some carb cleaner through it. 3) SeaFoam can sometimes be a miracle worker. run it in the oil and through the intake. These things might not be the root cause of your issues, but if I was in your shoes I would address them first. |

Plus 5 billion cool points to Andy. I pretty much worked through that same list and it helped mine a lot. When I first got my bike, I was scared to stop because once I had to go, the bike would buck and stutter and cough. Way way better now. Start with a clean throttle body, then adjust your cables, Then seafoam the bike. All three probly wouldn't hurt. |

Thanks for the great info. Andy: your recommendation sounds like the best place for me to start. I'm sure a race ECM will be coming down the road, but I think having everything properly cleaned and adjusted in the first place will make a bigger difference. |

I personally wouldn't buy the E.B.R. ecm for the 9. It is pretty much the same as the old Buell Race ecm. You would be better off putting the race maps on your stock ecm and data-logging. (Message edited by TerryS1980 on September 12, 2011) |
