Hey, this one is a bit of a repost, sorry if that's not allowed. Anyone know how to hook up the Buell hand warmers to an 04 XB9? I have them installed, but can't figure the wiring. I even tried to go direct to the battery with the grips, but that didnt work. Thoughts? |

If you went direct to the battery and it didn't work something is wrong with your grips. Have a look at this wiring diagram from the A.S.B. website. Don't be afraid to use this. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/cgibin/discus/sear ch.cgi |

I used the diagram Al sent along with these several tutorials from Canyon Chasers: Relay wiring - http://www.canyonchasers.net/shop/generic/relay.ph p Grips - http://www.canyonchasers.net/shop/generic/heated-g rips-alt.php More grips - http://www.canyonchasers.net/shop/generic/heated-g rips.php I ended up using the Buell switchgear with a locally acquired heating element under the grips on my XB, works fine. I would have done the same on my Cyclone but had already drilled the aluminum dash so installed the micro toggle used in the above tutorial for the elements under grips on that bike. |

sorry to hijack this thread a bit, but it's Labor day and i don't think American Sport Bike is open today & fall temps are getting near...... Does American Sport Bike sell just the OEM hand warmer switch, or the whole right hand pod? I'm contemplating where to mount my switch: 1) a round switch custom fit in the right hand pod location for Polly Heater. 2) order a Heat Demon system with their switch (part number?). 3) or........ fyi- 05 9sx. Thank! |

The OEM heated grip switch is the whole housing (warmer switch, starter, kill button). It works really well with Polly heaters. I went through 3 different configurations with my Polly's switch. first was this ugly thing:
Then this which was better:
Then finally, the OEM:

That's where my switch was originally on my 9sx as well, and I regretted it. Too hard to get to when riding, and it rusted quickly and looked nasty. The Polly heaters are a nice clean solution, but are incredibly hard to regulate to keep the right temp. Too much thermal inertia, so they overshoot like crazy. So it's good to have the switch handy and easy to use. |
