But then again 420 you have never used them on another BUELL other then your XB.On the tubers they work great. |

The Diablos are a taller tire than the stock dunlops. That's why they are also thinner. They have a more rounded profile. The net effect being that there is a larger contact patch when you are at steeper lean angles. I think that is why the bike feels more planted in turns than the Dunlops. In my personal experience, the dunlops would literally shred in the GA heat if ridden at any pace. I would stop for a break after riding in the mountains for a couple runs and I could literally peel rubber off the tire. That wasn't because the bike was sliding around or anything but I was just very surprised to see such visible tread wear. The rear tire laster just over 3000 miles. Too short for me. I have over a thousand miles on my Diablos and tread wear has been excellent. Also, I like to use the rear break to slow the bike before entering a corner. With the Dunlops, this would cause the back end to slide around more than to my liking. This does not happen at all with the Diablos. I have also achieved better lean angles than I ever had on the Dunlops and still feel that I can lean further without pushing myself. I've ridden in the rain once with the Diablos and have no complaints but I was not pushing the pace at all. Just My opinions. |

ok it is not 420 in alaska, but fullpower says" on the XB12 S model, the dunlop 207 is an inferior tire, compromises the handling characteristics of the bike, and immediate improvements can be had by a change to the Metzeler Z6 tires." side benefit is double the tread life. rear d 207 was dusted at 2700 miles. current Z6 has 4600 miles on it and is a bit over half worn. |

well, they make tubers stand up on in corner braking as well . . . . wear's ok, but I've never worn out a front dunlop (205/7) before the cup-monster set in (even with religious tire pressure maintenance) . . . also, I've now had two different 205s show up with the myterisous cross-wise slit after about 2k miles -- M1s for me next |

As soon as the XB9 was released, Bubba told me that simply by changing out the stock "lightweight" tires for "normal tires", the standing up under braking would go away & the high speed handling are improved. I have not heard 1 person who did this swap complain, in fact all raved about it. Is it all a placebo effect? Hell if I know 100% for sure. |

I've tried the store bought (non Buell) 207s and 208s and they're not near as good as the Metzlers. Mike runs the Diablos and feels the same way about those as I do about the Metzlers. Blake, no doubt the change all that you've said. I also check my suspension settings every so often to make sure everything is still good. I stand by my opinion. Also. I hope you are able to see what we mean when you buy Ted's old bike (I think I got the impression that was what you were going to do) Then you'll see fist hand the XBs are a different animal. So far I've had seat time with an S1W (I will own one ASAP), S3T, and an M2, the XB is very different than the tubers as far as handling. |

There was some mild and wild debate about the "standing up under brakes" around 6 to 8 months ago. Sheite some people were suggesting that all braking should be done before entering the turn, others were saying "trail braking" should only be done on the track, others were denying that the XB's stood up at all. For friggin's sake, looking back, how many of us got near peersecuted for saying "something's wrong here"? 5hit surely we all know that 207's aren't that good on XB's? |

I am still an advocate of braking before the turn. Makes me smoother (faster). I have to thank the Dunlops for forcing me to make that a habit, and thank you for reminding me. |

I have 4800 miles on the rear 207. That's after a trip to South Padre from Wisconsin and back. I do agree that they feel like they are going to slide out though from underneath you though. They suck imho.

I would have to agree that the stock donuts are not confidence inspiring at all!! They do feel sort of "slippery" or something. I would like to get some decent mileage out of them but I can't wait to change them out. Looks like M1's it will be though........... |

I'e been running Michelin Pilot Sports this summer and have been out for 4 track days with them so far. They are a vast improvement over the Dunlops: no standing up under breaking, improved stability and an overall "balanced" feel. The only downside is a radical change in frame geometry on initial turn-in (I only feel this on some street corners and am used to it) and the requirement for a bit more warm-up time. |
