New to the world of Buells, after owning 6 other various brands and styles of bikes. Getting to know and understand the quirks of my 2006 Ulysses. Bike has Race Ecm, RT/One and K/N filter. Breather mod as well as aribox mods completed. Have had some running issues. When damp and raining bike runs like its missing, as well as sporadically it will pop and idle like crap. Replaced plugs with NGK's and wires. TPS has been reset, however it still seems to do this. Thing is it seems to happen once it has been ran and shut off, upon start it up it and idle it pops from airbox. Sometimes this happen mid corner making for some fancy riding. I have also gone through and cleaned and put die-electric grease on all ground contacts. Bike is always on battery tender as well, as battery was replaced. Also is it common for it to run like crap on cool morns, warm up time???. |

Also check and relocate the ECM, The issue in the rain sounds familiar to me, it would only act up in the rain but not always. 30k or so later the ECM finally sh*t the bed, broken gray connector, I pulled a lot of hair figuring it out, even knowing this was an issue. It would not do it on the lift. Since the replacement and relocation the bike runs tip top in the heaviest rain. Maybe you could borrow a ECM for testing? |

You can run a #6-32 tap into that emissions tube and put in a permanent #6-32 set screw for a cap. It was used for the California emissions and the heat tends to rot a rubber cap. |

Rain issue is not unusual...believe the rain "overcools" the rear cylinder. Sounds like a Blast thumper when this happens. |

Rain issue is not unusual...believe the rain "overcools" the rear cylinder ???? Why would the front cylinder not "overcool". Why would the bike ever run if this was the case? Mine will hiccup sometimes when cool. Bob |

Thanks for info, where should one relocate the ECM, and are there aftermarket suppliers for connectors and harness. Prefer to plug and play rather than splice in. The sporadic idle as well as miss when cool is that common trait. |

No splicing needed, just move the ECM. Some more details here: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/142 838/628590.html |

Thanks for the info on ECM relocate. Is the ECM secured to new point or is just sitting in the location. Perhaps this is why every so often the speedo and tach will quit working, only to start again after a few minutes of riding, or shutting bike off and starting again. I did go through and clean and place die-electric grease on all ground locations. |
