I broke a throttle return cable recently. I just went to replace it and found the bracket at the throttle body was missing the part the cable end slides into from the bracket. Obviously I need a new bracket too. Has anyone ever tried to remove the bracket from the throttle body while on the bike? Seem real tight with my big hands. I'm hoping I don't have to pull the throttle body off to get at the mounting screws. |

So, you have had an "ineffective" throttle return cable for the life of the bike? I need to look at my engine rotation pics to see if it is accessible that way. Right now I can't remember what is in the way with the air box off. I'll look tomorrow. |

I'm just not sure if there's room to get tools and fingers between the front head and the throttle body. It looks damn tight. The problem is that the return cable is also what stops the rotation of the grip at closed throttle. I Jerry rigged the broken cable to act as a stop when it broke on vacation in NC, but it looks like a real hack job. It was a new challenge riding twisties where throttle management is critical, with very little feel for where the throttle plate closes. The hard part is rolling on the power and nothing happens until all of a sudden the slack is out of the cable and the throttle gets whacked open. |

The throttle lever assembly is held on by a nylock and the bracket is held on my 2 allen head screws. An allen wrench should fit to remove the screws. |
