So the rod that holds the valves broke. I've never hear of this happening. I'm shocked and upset. Anyone else heard of this happening? There weren't any warning signs like the throttle feeling tight or sticking that would have sent stress from that rod through the cable. I'm in disbelief. It needed a back tire and I don't have the equipment to do that myself so I sent it to Baltimore Buell to diagnose and they reported this info to me yesterday. +$400 for the part +$400 for the labor means that it isn't getting fixed right away. I'll tear it apart when I get the chance and get my eyeballs on it. On a different note... Has anyone else ever broke a tooth off a gear? I think I'm missing tooth/teeth on 3rd. I don't abuse it, I promise. |

It happens on occasion. Shop ebay for a used throttle body for MUCH cheaper. 400 in labor? That's crazy! Maybe 2hrs to rotate the engine and 1hr more for the throttle body replacement, at the most! Wow! |

Do you really have to rotate the engine to swap the throttle body? Can't you get to it from the top side? |

No. If you're rotating the engine anyway, it's easier to wait but it can be done quicker without rotating if that's all your doing. |

The shaft broke? It isn't that uncommon, in fact there is a dirt cheap fix available soon... http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/142 838/639789.html?1311506602 |

Iamarchangel is right, you don't have to rotate the engine, but I was only thinking at most a dealership would(should) charge. I have removed mine from top several times and it is much faster. |

Awesome link Froggy! To the others, I haven't had to do it myself before. I was hoping it would remove from the top. Thanks all for replying. |

It's not that bad to get to at all popping the airbox and intake system off. I snapped by Idle Adjustment cable up there =( |
