I get a nice, fat, shaking backfire through the airbox sometimes when in traffic or blipping the throttle after the bike has been running for a bit. |

Mine did that. Had the TPS reset, then I adjusted the idle when I got home. Much better now. |

I just had the TPS adjusted and it still does it. My idle is set at 1000. |

I've found that I have less problems when I don't blip the throttle at a stop. The only time I do blip is before I downshift to engine brake. I used to get hesitation, sputter, and backfire when I'd blip at a stop. |

Holy sheet, yesterday I filled up with gas and had this happen for the first time. As I pulled out of the station and was almost to the road I had to coast and wait for traffic. I cracked the throttle, to hear that nice Buell sound....and it backfired huge and I could feel the airbox move between my legs! I was kinda freaked at first but the bike ran okay and subsequent revs didn't make it do that. I'm wondering if I has something to do with the gas overflow. The first time I filled up I filled it up to the top. Bad idea I guess because it must have an overflow and a ton of gas (like a cup) poured out of the left side by the footpeg. I noticed it after I had the bike running so just pulled away quickly and drove slowly to watch and make sure it would stop. It did, so now I just don't fill it so full. I haven't yet taken the airbox apart so I'm not familiar with it, but is is possible that excess gas fumes could get in the air intake so a backfire turns into a big bang? |

I don't know that it has anything to due with the amount of fuel in the tank. It has happened to me at all different levels. Yeah, it scared me the first time too but I have since moved to Jason's way of riding, but I still get it when in slow moving traffic. As for overfilling, leave like and inch and a half from the top and you should be fine. I stop filling at about 2.6 gallons from when the fuel light comes on. I think my light is a little pessimistic though. |

A d&d ll make it backfire through the airbox? Crackles and pops from the exhaust are fine, through the airbox seems wrong though.?? |

I too have this happen often. I don't know what it is but when my truck does it, it burns up the filter. Hope it doesn't do the same here! |
