I come from a jap and german bike background, but wanted an adventure bike. Something like a BMW GS, but I honeslty couldnt afford one. I came across this 2006 Buell Ulysses at San Diego BMW. I ended up taking a trip down there and picking it up. It is a 2006 Ulssyes with: 26K miles with the 25K serivice just done K&N air filter Race ECM Buell P&N Exhaust Full HB hard bag set Taller windscreen Looks to have been babied and looks almost new 2 ignition keys 3 Bag keys A HD tred depth and tire pressure gauge Buell toolkit Owners Manual and finally a Factory Service Manual I got it for $5556 OTD. I think I did pretty good on the purchase and so far love the Ulysses. There are two thing imeediately I want to change though. I am 5'9" and barely touch the ground. I do have a low seat lined up so that should be taken care of this week Second thing. THe rear brake seems very weak. I seem to have to really mash it to get any sort of stoping power out of it. I have seen the brembo 2 pot caliper kits for sale online. If I get one of those will it be a big improvement over stock? Thanks in Advance! I doubt it has the Erik Buell Racing Race ECM, it probably has the old Buell P&A Race ECM, huge difference. The reason I say that, there is no such thing as Erik Buell Racing XB Exhaust, but the Buell Race Exhaust did some with Race ECMs.

Get used to it.

It is very weak, it a sportbike, but you still can easily lock it up in a panic. Use your front, it is there for a reason! |

I dont know know how to tell what ECM it is, but It says for race use only on it. From what I have been reading I have the Buell Factory racing exhaust.

Don't worry, that's still good. It's just the old HD era stuff. Froggy seems a little grumpy today. Usually he's more fun and informative. Yes, learn to use the front brake more, carefully, Actually, these are top brand brakes, not Brembo but good. Nissan, I think. |

After reading some posts here I think Im going to send my ECM to Erik Buell Racing and have it reflashed with a newer map. It seems that people who have a setup like mine really saw a change for the better when they sent in their old one to get reflashed. |

Erik Buell Racing won't flash any old ECM. they will only re-flash an ecm that has been bought from them. by the markings on that one, it looks like the 'buell race ECM' not the Erik Buell Racing one. |

That is not correct. E B R will not flash a stock ecm, they will flash an old P&A race ecm. That said, I have an 06 Uly with that setup (P&A ecm reflashed by E B R) and I don't recommend it. It threw a fan code and a BAS code, ran much rougher than before, had no noticable power gain and you can't touch it with ecmspy without screwing it up because they made the genius decision to write some info into different cells so ecmspy will screw it up. Some have even reported that a tps reset with ecmspy have screwed theirs up, which means you're stuck either buying expensive software or going to the dealer for a reset. My stock ecm with custom maps is now in my bike and she runs great |

Somewhere in all of this lies some interation of the correct answer. Please send an e-mail to info@ebracing.com Be sure to clearly state in the subject: DO YOU REFLASH ECM? (Your Name) In the body be certain to provide specifics about: Your bike - Model, year and mods You - Contact info and best way/time to contact Need - what it is you are needing Time constraints - I generally either put "not urgent" or "need by ____" This is the best way to get accurate information. |
